Im actually going to out some on my registry and am trying to maximize things!

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Re: STM's Diaper question

  • I didn't keep a record but I do remember using size 1 the most!

  • Ooh it's so different for every kid. Charlie was in preemie for a month, then newborn for about 2 1/2 months, then went to size one for a while. He mostly wore cloth after that, but I remember him being in 3's for a long time. Now he is in 5's, almost 6's.

I am probably not the best person to ask because DD was huge (weighed 9 lbs 11oz at birth) but she was only in newborn for a week or two and then size one for about a month.  We spent a long time in size 2s.

In general, I have found that you spend more and more time in them as she ages.  So far we've spent the least amount of time in newborn and the most in size 4.

DS weighed 8lb 4 oz.  But this is very similar to how long we've been in each size.  I feel like we've been in size 4 forever.

  • I had a baby two weeks after a close friend. When my LO was using 1, hers was in 4's so its really hard to say. Just dont open the boxes until you need them. you can always take them back for an exchange.

Here was our schedule of diapers and cloths:
    nb 0apx 4 months

size 1 or 0 to 3 cloths apx 47 months

Size 2, skipped most of size 6 month cloths went to 9 to 12 month clothing from 8 months to 1 yr.

Size 3 and 4 were until apx 20 months. She was in perfect cloths size here meaning 9 to 12 month cloths.

Size 5 apx 20 months to now 23 months. We are in 2t now. 24 months and 2t are the same except length. Avoid 24 month cloths. You can always roll sleves and pants legs.

    Hopefully no more diapers soon!!!

    I second this! :)

  • Oh, and to throw a wrench in your plans further...

Diapers are like clothes - they're all cut differently and fit differently. Target Up & Up diapers run big, Huggies seem to be good on chunky babies, Pampers seem to be better on thinner/taller kids.

Also, as kids grow they get taller, then wider, then taller, than wider and so on. At one point, C was in 4's, had a growth spurt and grew a few inches and was back in 3's! They keep you guessing, those kids.

  • Thanks for the insight ladies! I think I'll just throw a whole bunch of Pampers different sizes on there (I only say Pampers bc that's what I've already been given about 5 boxes of). And exchange if needed!

  • DS was 8lb 4oz 21in at birth.. We used newborn for about a month, size 1 till he was 3 months old, size 2 till about 8 months old, size 3 till about 14 months and he is currently in size 4. We definitely used size 3 the most.

  • My understanding is that if you just keep them in the package, you can take them back to wherever they're from and exchange them for a new size if necessary. Same thing with clothes. I plan to keep them stacked in boxes and that way if I have extras of a size that my baby outgrows too quickly, I will try to exchange them for a size up. And as tempted as I will be to wash all the cute tiny clothes, I'm not going to do it. I am expecting a hefty baby which may or may not even fit into newborn sizes at all, so I will definitely keep tags on everything for exchanging purposes.
