Worried... TMI... Misearble...

So, last night at about 10, I started vomiting like crazy. It was a lot more than when I was experiencing "morning sickness". It lasted until about 3am. I also had diarrhea pretty bad to the point where I had to sit on the toilet and had a pot to throw up in. This morning I am doing much better, I called the dr. and she said as long as my little boy is still moving around in there (which he is) he is fine, and I probably just have the stomach flu. I am able to get clear liquids to stay in at this point, and am not running a fever. I am just so afraid that it is food poisoning and my little man will be harmed. I don't know that I am looking for advice or anything, I just needed some friends to share with so maybe I can worry less... Thanks friends for being there...

  • I'm so sorry -- truly a miserable experience.  I had something like this about a month or so ago, it was the sickest I've ever been in my life for about 12 hours, and then it stopped -- I still felt rough for a while, but at least I could stay out of the bathroom.

Just make sure you stay hydrated -- pedialyte, gatorade, water -- and take it easy.

    Miserable experience.  :-(

  • Like PP said. I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Just the flu. Make sure you stay hydrated! Try Gatorade or Powerade. The electrolytes will hep a TON with dehydration. Good luck, get well soon

  • I JUST had this, and to top it off I'm worried about him already measuring small. But my doc said as long as you can get fluids in not eating for 24 hours is ok. Feel better!!

  • That was me two nights ago! When DH came down with the 24 hour bug a couple days ago, I figured I would get it. Puked on the side of the road...THAT was fun... And had a "coming out both sides" moment, too.

Like the previous posters said, HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE.  Even if it makes you throw up, at least you are absorbing some of it. Dehydration is what is making you feel the sickest. Switching between water and ginger ale worked best for me. I stayed hydrated through the whole thing and was feeling close to human after 12 hours.

  • Thank you all so much. Keeping fluids down now, and just trying to rest. Ice chips with a touch of gatoraide seems to be the best at staying in there.
