Christmas traditions

All my family lives in southern VA and my daughters and I live in GA..  This is the first year in a long time we can't travel "home" for the holidays.  I'm trying to keep it as traditional as possible even though its just the four of us i'm still cooking a ton of food and we will sit down tonight and i'll let each one open one gift each then tomorrow we will wake up to santa and i'll fix our traditional fried Oysters along with what ever else it is they want for breakfast.   Were the only family i know of that always has Fried oysters on christmas morning..  what kind of traditions do ya'll have?

Re: Christmas traditions

  • Our traditions are kind of all up in the air this year (last year too!), because I got married last year so we've had to divide times between holidays.

In MY family, the tradition is an egg strada and grapefruit on Christmas Morning, and oyster stew on Christmas eve!

DH's family - mom's side has a gift-exchange game that they play on Christmas Eve involving dice.  It is actually pretty fun!

  • This is mine and my husbands first christmas together and its just the 3 of us, and the baby inside, we were married last year but he was in Afghanistan. We were recently stationed to Texas and we are from California. So we are setting our own traditions taking what we thought was the most important from our own and making new ones as well. We let our son pick the tree and all decorate it and my husband lifted him up to put on the star. We are having roast for dinner. and Christmas eve night we will read night before christmas and leave cookies and milk out for santa :)
