Anyone else have to work today?

My company is open today because the stock market is open. On the bright side, we close at 3:00, but the stock market closes at noon so that's not totally fair, lol, but oh well. Traffic was a breeze this AM and it should be a pretty mellow day around here.

Anyone else working today?

I'm a teacher, so I've been off since last Wednesday but my husband owns his own business and made his employees come in today. I called him Scrooge.

I work at a newspaper and we are in today, although we are closing the office early at 3. News has got to be printed! We are not printing for Christmas Day, though, today's work will go out the 26th.

We're a little luckier though, we're closing at 1pm when the market closes. Driving into work this morning really was so enjoyable, it took me 1/2 the time it usually does. I'm hoping all of our clients assume we're closed today and don't call in

I left my husband home with our daughter, I can't wait to see what I come home to!

No it's not, but a lot of people where I am from celebrate with their families on Christmas Eve. I don't think its uncommon for a job to offer a half day or day off as a work perk on this day.

I work at a hospital which obv is always open. H is a firefighter so he usually doesnt get time off either. Somehow we both managed to get coverage for four days off together. Today is day two!!!

I am here! were closing early but i dont know what time yet.. they will come over the loud speaker at some point and tell us happy holidays and enjoy the rest of our day with our loved ones...

Neither is the day after Thanksgiving but a lot of companies are closed that day too.

Except here. Lol. The two previous companies I've worked for were closed Christmas eve & the day after Thanksgiving. This is the first company I've worked for that is open.

I'm at work! But I have no clients booked so its just a paper work day. Which is sometimes worse...clients make the day go by more quickly. And I'm here right till the end 4:30!! Boooo. My little guy was the only one at daycare today. That made me sad.

Yup, I'm working. We're only open until 2:30 though. Well, at least that's when I'm leaving. Boss said I could go any time after lunch, but MH doesn't get off until 3 so there's no point in leaving earlier.

I used to work for a company that was closed the day after Christmas and the day after Thanksgiving. It was glorious! We're closed Black Friday, but you have to use vaca/pers time if you want to get paid for it. Lame-O.

I would rather that than be open. Even if I didn't have any PTO and had to take it unpaid. Lol. Here they make it seem like they're doing you a big favor if you get to take it off since so many people do "they need as many people 'on-deck' as they can get".

Ughhh!!! Yes I'm working too!! I work for a bank and everyone needs their last minute Christmas cash. We are closing at 2:00, which is better than it could be I just wish that we were closing earlier!! I want to be off with DH! I hate working when he's off.

I'm in the same boat - working 8 to 6 today at the doctor's office. We have a walk in clinic so that's open. No scheduled appointments today. But other offices are sending their patients here so, of course, we're slammed.

I work today and tomorrow, overnights. I am going in 4 hours early tonight so that my friend/coworker can spend Christmas with her family (her dad is not well and this will probably be his last Christmas). My husband also has to work and is working a double so that someone else can be with their family. We might as well let others be with their families when being with our own is not an option.

Last night we left our 3 year old son with my family so that we could come back home (almost 200 miles away) to work today and tomorrow. I've been crying on and off because I hate leaving our son for days at a time because our schedules are horrible. I think 2013 is the year I look for a new job... one that includes weekends and holidays off so we (or at least one of us) can be with our children instead of leaving them for days so we can work.

Me too, for this exact reason Though, I luck out a bit. Since we're in Hawaii, the market was already closed by the time I got to the office, so I get to get out of here at noon. But that begs me to ask...why come in at all?? My boss is back on the mainland anyway. But it's good, I can play catch up.
