So today I found out I was exposed to active tuberculosis at work. Like, febrile coughing kid in my face exposed. Nice. Earlier in the first trimester I was exposed to active Pertussis (whooping cough). My OB hates me. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about the exposure. The Health Dept recommended repeating a TB test in 3 months, but wants me to seek immediate care for any cough or febrile illness. I have a pretty Rockstar immune system, but t&p would be greatly appreciated! Guuuuuuhhhhh, sorrryyyy baby!!!

thats awful! i'll keep my fingers crossed for your kick ass immune system!
i dont know if it makes you feel any better, but i have been exposed to CMV. Its one of those cases where i am working very closely with a patient one day then the next day they order a CMV test and it comes back positive! its such an awful feeling, but (knocks on wood) thankfully baby and i have been fine! also, i work daily with MRSA, VRE, ESBL pts, all while wearing the appropriate PPE. i like to think i also have a super immune system from working in the hospital!
are you going to get a TB test done? i have heard mixed things about PPDs during pregnancy? i mean, i would likely do it if i knew i had an exposure. just wondering what your OB said, and what you think (from what i recall, you are a dr or in the med feild. right?)
