Cloth Diapering

NB poo staining covers

Hi all. My DD is rocking out her prefolds and covers (she's just over three weeks old). All is going well, the diapers and covers are getting clean, but the covers are very stained from when the poo has made it that far (DD's poo is mustard yellow at this point). Is it normal for the covers to stain much worse than the prefolds? If I attempt to sun them out, do I do that with simply the dry cover? I live in the Midwest and it's about 10 degrees outside, not thinking putting anything wet outside would be advised.

How do you sun out/remove NB poo staining from your covers?

Re: NB poo staining covers

  • I know it's ghetto, but I just hang them in a sunny window. It seems to work if they're dry first too.

  • I use Tide and wash everyday, so I haven't had any staining yet. I just wanted to say that I think the jelly roll fold really helps keep the poop off the covers. GL!

  • I just lay mine in the sun straight out of the washer.

  • My parents used cloth on me when I grew up. They didn't have a drier and they still dried my diapers outside in the middle of the PA winter. They said that the diapers would freeze stiff and that they knew the diapers were dry when they finally started waving in the wind again.

Point is, you can totally dry them outside in the cold and it's ok.
