Still team green...I think

I had my check up yesterday and after listening to the heartbeat and discussing how low the baby is the doctor told me he thinks it's a boy.  Now that's all I can think about.  I don't know why he did that, he knew we didn't want to know until the baby is here.  We're still going with the "we don't know" because technically without an ultrasound we don't know that it's a boy and that's not even 100% accurate all the time.  I just can't help but think it's a boy now.

Re: Still team green...I think

  • Did the doctor not know you weren't finding out? I had a midwife tell me she thought LO was a girl at about 16 weeks. Well before the u/s. She was just guessing and said don't put any stock into it because she had been wrong a lot lately. :) All she was going off was her heartbeat, which was very high.

  • that's sucky that he gave you a guess when he knew you don't want to know. It is just following old wive's tales and clearly not real because it's just a guess... but i wouldn't be able to get the thought out of my head either..

  • I think heartbeat and position are still just old wives tales.  My nurse also guesses its a boy based on those same 2 things, and my OB said that no one in the office knows (it never gets written down by the U/S tech), they just like to guess what the few Team Green mamas will have for fun.

Yeah, I agree w/ this. My OB (the one I actually liked) told me the heartbeat thing was a myth. I'm also carrying pretty low and we're having a girl (everyone told me it HAD TO BE a boy b/c she's so low). So...you still never know! Sorry he said something, though. I'd be obsessing over it, too.

  • I'll agree with what everyone else said. We were team green last time (and this time, too) - I actually SAW my u/s report and there was no mention of sex.

The last time I had a HB check, I jokingly said "so that means it's a girl, right?" My OB just looked at me like I was growing two heads. She still hasn't gotten my sense of humor. *shrug*

I think the doctors and nurses like to guess and be surprised just like the rest of us!

I wouldn't put any stock in those OWT.  They have a 50/50 chance of being right and, therefore, so does your doctor.  You are definitely still team green.

This. All the way. I carried really high with both boys and their heartbeats were in the 160's consistently.

This is the same with me, I'm carrying low and I'm having a girl. It's been reconfirmed twice, and clear as day. So I don't believe in all that crap what-so-ever, don't get yourself worked up over it. There was no ultrasound done, so there is no way to know for sure.

That was pretty rude of them to tell you, even though you requested not to find out.

  • My midwife guessed boy from the HB. Piglet is definitely a girl. I wouldn't put too much stock into it!

  • I wouldn't put too much thought into your doctor's guess. If going by HB was accurate DS should be a girl and this LO, a girl, should be a boy. I'm curious what the HB was though. :-p

  • Thanks everyone.  I know I can't bank on what he said but I just can't get that thought out of my head.

  • Heartbeat means nothing.  It's about as accurate as the Chinese gender predictor chart.
  • Hey Team Green mamas.... If you'renot finding out if it's a girl or boy, then you should know about an online baby registry that may affect your decision.  It's an online registry called NotFindingOut that caters specifically to parents who are not finding out but want people to be able to buy them both gender-specific AND gender-neutral gifts. All their items are paired into girl and boy counterparts and most are offered in a gender-neutral option as well. You can register for the items you want, you just don't know whether you'll receive the girl or boy version.  Once your baby is born, the gender-specific gifts are shipped to you right away so you are equipped with gender-specific items.  It's fun to have some gender neutral and some gender-specific goods when you're not finding out so this registry lets you do both!  For baby showers, anyone who buys you an NFO gift will bring a wrapped Preview Card that shows the item purchased for you in both the girl and boy version so that you can see what they bought you but not have the surprise ruined.  No one finds out what the baby is until it's born. VERY FUN!
