Reco Your Fav Carribean Vaca

Hey Ladies!  DH and I have decided to take a vacation just us in May 2013.  I want to go to the Carribean somewhere (I'd like to see the USVI) either on a cruise or an all-inclusive.  Tell me about your vacation ($3-4k total budget).  

Our all time favorite vacation was to a Sandals resort in Ocho Rios.  We did the butler service and I think it upped our expectations of vacations lol.  

I'm dreaming if something warmer, not a white Christmas!

We had our honeymoon at the Sandals in Antigua.  It was amazing!  We went during their carnival which is the largest carnival in the Carribean.  So much fun!  It was considered a holiday and everyone in town was pretty much there for the parade.  There were police of course, but I noticed none of them had a gun!  Or really weapons in general.  It seemed a very peaceful country--very Bob Marley  

We took an island tour which ended with swimming in the ocean with wild stingrays--amazing!  We also did a sailing trip to Bird Island where they cooked us one of the most delicious meals I ever had and we snorkeled.  Sandals was great!  We ate and drank like Kings and they had fantastic customer service.  No tips were accepted, so they did it right because it was their jobs, not trying to kiss butts for tips.  The beaches were beautiful, the ocean warm and very very nice people.  We can't wait to go back!

Where ever you decide, have a blast!

Oh, and I think our trip was not in that budget--I think we spent $5k on the trip, but we live on the West Coast, so our plane ride was expensive.  And of course we spent extra on the activities we did and when we went into town to eat/drink for the Carnival.

We did an all inclusive, adults only resort in Mexico for our honeymoon called El Dorado Maroma. It was amazing! All of the rooms face the ocean and it is smaller than most resorts, so it had a cozier feel. The least expensive rooms are on the ground floor, and they all have pools from the patio that take you to the swim up bar. There is an awesome spa and great restaurants. I highly recommend it.

I was going to recommend Couples resort in Ochos Rios. Then I read that you're already an Ochos Rios fan! Isn't it great!?

I love the Bahamas, but I'm biased because that's where DH is from.  However, on our honeymoon we did a cruise and one of the stops was the Virgin Islands.  We took an excursion to St. John.  It was GORGEOUS.  If we could redo our honeymoon, we would ditch the cruise and just go to St. John.  It is so peaceful and pristine.

I have to add dH refuses to go to Mexico because of the civil unrest.  He thinks we would be targets for the drug cartels and kidnappings.  But that sounds nice!

We went to Jamaica on our honeymoon. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Pincipe and it was amazing! We went on an excursion one day to a waterfall and shopping in town. The resort has a great spa and lots of activities to do.

Our hands down favorite vacation was to St. Thomas, and we did a day trip to St. John. We did a time share so I'm no help, but we've been to St. Lucia, St. Marten, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas and the trip to St. Thomas was the best.
