Have y'all ever used/tried/administered Colloidal Silver?

The lady at the health food store recommended it (I bought it) when I was buying the Ivy Extract. 

Now that I'm Google-ing it, I am second guessing this purchase.

Apparently it's an all natural cure to everything, basically. Cuts, coughs, you name it.

Congrats on your uncle! Thanks for making me feel cool about it. I'm just unsure how I feel about the extremely small amount I would give my child.

He's now cancer free! My mom used it in us as kids we even drank some now and then. She makes her own. My aunt makes an emollient with the silver, honey, and lavender. It's good for eczema. All kinds of stuff.

 

Wow! I honestly never heard of it until yesterday. I'm searching for any dangerous interactions and I can't find it. Do you know if anything would be dangerous combined with it. Apparently I have a lot of issues.

I do tend to side with Big Medicine on most of these sorts of things. With collodial silver there are proven health risks and no proven benefits. Call me crazy, but I do like stuff I put in my body to be tested.

Whether it's safe for consumption or not....I can't say. I'm not crunchy but I am a biologist and yes, it has antimicrobial properties. Before refrigeration was available milk was kept unspoiled longer by dropping in true silver nuggets. This method is still used in some developing countries.

There was a senator who consumed 1000 times the "recommended" ppm and that did create a skin discoloration issue. He was an idiot. It would be like drinking 100 gallons of orange juice because someone told you to drink a glass to ward off a cold.

Like I said, I don't know if regular use is a great thing, but it's the only thing I have ever found to knock the putrid gut wrenching smell out of my shoes I wear without socks :] hence the antibacterial properties.

Ohhhhh.  That's why there was a purple dude when we went out to breakfast last weekend. 

Also, is it anything like silvadene?  I know we used that when we were kids & that was pretty awesome stuff.

I'm a Biologist too. I wouldn't take it. Drinking out of a silver cup? Yeah, why not. Drinking the silver? No. In 97 the FDA said it's unsafe. Here is the WebMD link:

The problem with supplements is that they're unregulated. You can never be really sure of what you're getting and how it interacts with other things you're taking. There is no pharmacist there to tell you to watch out.
