IUI cancelled this month and I'm devastated..

I went in for my ultrasound appointment on the 12th which is my CD14, and I had 3 measurable eggs 21mm being the largest. I saw my RE's partner who I had never seen before, but figured no biggie since it was just an U/S appointment. So afterward he says he likes to see 26mm eggs with Clomid, and to come back today. We also asked him what the chances were I would ovulate before our next appointment and he said "very slim" so wtf. 

I see another different partner today since my RE is out of town, and the ultrasound shows I have already ovulated. I immediately burst into tears, and the Dr asks me if I'm ok, which is fine, but then pours salt on the wound saying "you guys let em go" referring to my eggs as if I had some control over when I "let them go", then continues to  to tell me to "just get pregnant this month so you can stop giving us money" and that "since you had intercourse last night you did everything right". Really? Because timed intercourse (and not even on purpose this time so kinda.) has worked for us in the past?

I've been bawling for an hour, DH had to go back to work, I'm pissed and destroyed, and lost. I was basically seeing red when he told us to just come back in day 13 next cycle, so I didn't even ask any questions. Now that I'm a little more with it, I need to call and ask about progesterone, since I was supposed to start them this month with the IUI, would I still need them anyway? I was told the chances were slim of ovulation, is it too soon? Are the eggs too small? I am starting to feel worried that these people don't really care. I don't even know what to say to my RE when he gets back. But maybe I am just in a bad place right now. Any hugs and/or advice would really help me ladies. I appreciate it.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I would be very upset as well. And I would definitely question your RE about it, everyone who sees you in that office should be on the same page as far as your treatment plan goes. 26mm sounds too big, you deserve an answer to why they wanted you to wait. Hopefully the TI will work though!

i'm so sorry i agree with PP, you deserve a good plan moving forward, and hopefully that will happen when your RE gets back in town. hang in there.

So sorry to hear this.  I would definitely start looking for another doctor if you have that option.  You're paying these people - you deserve better care and better customer service than this.  If it were me, you'd have had to hold me back from punching the guy!

I cant believe that doctor was so unprofessional.  I agree with PP that 26mm does sound a little big, my monitoring appt was yesterday and mine were 22 and 23 (I think) and I triggered yesterday.  I would definitely call back up there when your RE gets back and speak with them about this.  Hang in there!

I also agree with PPs - definitely talk to your RE about it if you feel comfortable doing that or if you feel like you need to, find another RE in your area if that is an option.  I am so sorry this happened!  HUGS!!!!

Definitely thinking about you and sending HUGS. I swear if just ONE of these Infertility clinics got the "customer service" side of their business down they would be trillionaires (lets be honest, they are already millionaires)

I'm so very sorry that happened to you.  I think I would've had the same reaction!! That Dr had no right to say any of that to you - this is not a game, it's somebodies life!! I would have to agree with PPs, if you feel comfortable, talk to your RE when you see him/her next! Nothing can change if nobody knows!

thank you all so much ladies! I sent my RE's office an email asking when he will be back and hopefully I can get in to talk to him before the next cycle. I appreciate and value your help and opinions, thank you all so much for dragging me out of that dark hole I was in today

thanks Intuitive, to answer your question from before, I guess the only silver lining is that at least we werent just sent on our way and told to take the shot after I could have potentially ovulated, so I guess thats the only good thing. My RE is back in the office Monday,so I'm gonna try and get in ASAP.

If memory serves, you posted an update on your last monitoring appointment. When I read it, I was VERY surprised your doctor sent you home with a 21mm follicle and didn't see you again for 2-3 days (can't remember which).

A 21mm is mature and perfect for triggering. Some doctors, including mine, actually don't like them getting in the 26mm range.

I'd definitely be searching for a new doctor / practice.
