19 weeks baby B irregular heartbeat

I have been lurking since about week 6 or 7 of my pregnancy and have enjoyed reading posts.  We had our A/S today and baby B has an irregular heartbeat.  We have to see a specialist in a few weeks.  My doctor says not to worry does anyone else have experience with this?

  • I don't have any experience with that, but wanted to say welcome! I know it is hard, but if your doctor isn't concerned (and you trust them) then I would try to take their advice and not worry!

  • My baby A had an arrythmia at our first ultrasound but it went away by our 12 week one. I'm a LD nurse and we see babies with them often. As pp said, if your dr isn't worried mine wasn't either I wouldn't be too worried. GL at the specialist!

  • We had our A/S on Monday and Baby B has a "benign arrhythmia". Basically a wonky heartbeat that slows down and picks up at random intervals. My MFM says 95% of cases where the baby is anatomically normal, which ours is, they resolve before the baby is born. We have a follow up in a month for a fetal echo to recheck it but he said he was confident that it would be resolved by then.

Basically when they are this small/young arrhythmia's are pretty common. As long as baby was measuring good weight and has good movement and fluid I wouldn't worry.
