Cloth Diapering

Those with dogs...

I didn't want to hijack margaretkaye's thread. For those of you who have dogs, do your dogs show any interest in the diapers? I have two and was terrified that they were going to rip them apart like I'd seen my sister's (who disposable diapered) dog do to her. They've never done anything more than sniff them though.

So now I'm wondering if it's a disposable diaper thing, or if I'm just lucky to have disinterested pups. I have two male dogs, and she had a female, so maybe that has something to do with it too? Just curious!

Re: Those with dogs...

  • I have a male dog as well... He'll sniff the diaper pail once in awhile, but that's it.
  • They have never touched a cloth diaper.  However, they love getting into disposable diapers.

  • Hmm, so I bet it's probably a whole mix of factors then. I'll just count my blessings.

Although, 100 dollars for one chewed up Thirsties cover is a pretty good deal! I might encourage a few chewed dipes if I thought I could cash in on it. DevilBig Smile

  • My dogs have sniffed at them once or twice, but nothing else.  I accidentally left 2 open wet bags on the floor of the laundry room while I went shopping for a couple of hours, and they didn't touch them.

  • The only time my dog is interested in DD's diapers is when she's pooped (and still wearing the diaper). He will.not.leave.her.alone. Which is actually kind of handy since DD is sometimes a secret pooper so I don't always know otherwise.

  • We have a male dog and he is not at all interested in DS's diapers. We use both sposies and cloth.

The dog does eat poo that he finds in the street and in the bushes, though. Ugh.

    This for me too.

  • My dogs have never touched or shown any interest in our cloth diapers, but have totally eaten disposables. Grossssss. Oh, and one of them destroyed a wet bag to get to a couple of cloth wipes that had food residue on them (wiped DD's hands and face at a restaurant). It was my favorite one, too.

My dogs never seemed to care, even when we used disposables in the beginning. Cat poop on the other hand, they love :/

My dogs love cat poop, too! I have yet to have them around dirty diapers seeing that my babe isn't here yet, but good to know my pooches aren't the only ones who love a kitty crunchy. But still gross Ick!

  • Man, I must have a bad dog, then.  She is definitely interested in the wet bag.  She's not allowed in the nursery alone--we put a gate up usually.  One time I forgot to put it up and she somehow got a poppy diaper from the bottom of the bag. Luckily, I heard her and knew she was up to no good, but she ran with the dpe into our bed room and tried to eat it before I could take it away. I had to pull it out of her mouth.  Eww!  lluckily it was a cheap NB pocket I got on craigslist that I didn't even like that much, and she didn't even really hurt it.  Just realized this should be my CD fail story!
