Dairy free update

I just thought I'd let you guys know that going dairy free has been way easier than I thought it would be.  I really makes me appreciate the fact that we made most of our food from scratch already.  I just had to change around the convenience foods and we were good to go.  I still miss pizza and ice cream, but hey, it's not forever.  We don't go for our follow-up until January, but I do think it's making a difference in DS's reflux, so yay!

  • Yay that is awesome! Great job I have a few friends who couldn't swing it and ended up formula feeding. I know it is tough!

  • Great!

Pizza still kills me.  Cheeseless pizza is not even worth it.

We had grilled cheese and soup the other night and my sandwich had the Diaya havarti style cheese on sourdough, it was surprisingly good.

No Kidding? I will have to try some.  Grilled cheese with soup is such an easy lunch.

  • I find the Daiya harvarti repulsive. The cheddar is decent. The mozzarella shreds are ok mixed in with baked ziti, but NOT a viable substitute for making pizza. Gross.

I prefer Amande almond yogurt. I have to go to Whole Foods to get it, and its really expensive. So it's a treat rather than an everyday thing like I used to eat regular yogurt. Earth Balance soy free is also a very good butter substitute and I actually prefer my baked goods with that now because it makes super soft chewy chocolate chip cookies with Enjoy Life choco chips.

Can you get Enjoy Life chocolate chips at Whole Foods, too?  I am dying for choc chip cookies!

  • For us, there was hope at the end of the tunnel.  I was dairy free from 3 weeks old to 6 months when my ped told me to try dairy again.  She tolerated it beautifully.  I guess they can outgrow it!
