Today sucks.

Ever have those nightmares about your teeth breaking/crumbling/falling out?  I do and they suck- I always wake up in a total panic.

Today though I discovered something worse than dreaming about your teeth breaking off: having it happen for real. I was just eating a soft piece of pita bread and next thing you know, part of my two bottom front teeth were gone. They just simply broke off.

I have an appointment first thing in the morning with the dentist. My aunt, who's a hygenist, said that they'll try to talk me into crowns (very, very expensive and our insurance only covers them at 50%) but that I should decline and tell them I want to go with the more conservative approach of trying to fill/bond them first.

I've had tears in my eyes all day. This is just like those bad dreams but worse because it's real AND now I have to worry about an astronomical dental bill that we really can't afford right now...

Oh no! I'm sorry. Anyway I am a dental assistant and he will probably recommend a  crown. It is your choice however so if it's not feasible at this time go for the composite filling, (tooth colored filling). In my area (MCOL), they usually run around $150 per tooth plus they may charge you an emergency office visit ($70ish) and x-ray($30ish) . Total bill here would probably be around $300 and most insurance covers 80% of fillings and 100% on the office visit and xray. Hope all goes well tomorrow. Oh yeah crowns usually run around $800ish and like you said insurance will probab;y only cover 50%, make sure you don't have any waiting periods if you insurance is less than a year old.

I have those dreams sometimes. ?And it scares the fruck out of me, b/c a co-worker said that it means something bad when you dream it.

Well.. DH and I fought the next day, so maybe that was all.
