Why the hell does he scream EVERYTIME we put him

in the highchair. We also purchased a booster and put him at the table thinking that would help but no day 3 (or 4 I have lost count) and him not wanting to eat, unless its cheerios or goldfish.

  • Are any teeth on the way? DS gets like that at the beginning of teething (before we can even see/feel them). He doesn't eat a thing and hates to even sit at the table. One day he ate half a meatball and 2 grapes.

I think he is starting to get his canines now - fun times ahead!!!

  • This is the story of my life!  We have tried EVERYTHING, but this has been going on for as long as I can remember in our house  (the eating issues, that is).  We actually have an OT eval on Monday to hopefully try to resolve whatever the issue is!

Do you think that he would sit at the table on a regular chair on his knees?  My friend's DD started doing this and as soon as they let her sit on a regular chair (they wound up getting one of those Kaboost things to elevate the chair), she chilled out.  I think she just wanted to be a little more independent and eat like the "big people".

Other than that, good luck!  Hopefully it's just a phase for you :)

  • At 2 yo Evan starting eating meals and snacks in a chair at the table.  Have you tried that?

  • My son hated anything that was confining.  He loooovved his Trip Trapp chair from the day we got it, I think because he could get up and down with virtually no help from us and there are no straps.  He's also really comfortable in it since the footrest and seat are so adjustable.  He also now likes his cooshee boaster now, but he HATED the fisher price one with the arms.  I think he just hates anything around his sholders or tying him in.
  • My DS also eats at a regular kitchen chair.  He did have a booster, but it became more of a safety hazard than it was worth.  It didn't fit on our chairs right and he almost fell a couple times getting up and down from it.  Finally we just got rid of it and now he sits on a regular chair.
