FB friend just announced their new baby boy, Charles Xavier.
I must say, it is a solid name.
I am realizing that while the most common paradigm is for women to be the name nominators and men to simply have veto power, there are mens out there who are giving their babies totally awesome names.
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.

I would have loved to have DH participate more than that and come up with a great name. Or any name, really. He wasn't really into doing more than crossing my names off a list let alone coming up with ideas of his own, though.
DW and I made a list of our top 5 names and then eliminated the names we didn't care for off each other's list. She only considered one of my Top 5, although one was a "I like it but I once dated a..." situation. Still, my son is so lucky he has me to protect him from being Sebastian. Although Bastie is a pretty cool NN.

Sebastian is an awesome name!
Have you ever shared your LO's name, or is that hush hush?
ETA: I created a list and DH eliminated names. I asked him to create a list, but he never did. Well, he had one boy name he liked (Alexander), but we didn't have a boy, so...
Not sure how well this will reflect on my DH, but he actually had a boy name picked out before I even met him. Yeah, I know, it makes him sound like a chick. The name was/is James Oliver. James also happened to be on my short list, so it was the one and only name we ever discussed for a boy. That cute boy in my siggy is James Oliver, named after DH's dad and favorite uncle. So how does DH's name choice rate, is it "solid?"

You do bring up an excellent point I totally forgot about, naming children after relatives. That's definitely one area where I feel like Men tend to pop up more aggressively on naming.
I think James is an awesome name. Classic, short, strong, easy to spell. Several good nicknames (Jim, Jimmy, even Jay if you want).
Oliver is a good middle name. It's actually a name I nixed for a first name off my wife's list along with Sebastian. I love Olivia/Olive for girls, but for a first name for boys, I don't like Oliver, it's got too much "Kick Me" potential. Also the two most famous Olivers are Twist and Ollie North (eep). But for male middle names, it's fun to just go wild and let them hate you as a teenager.

I'm a little late to post on here but I had to share. My husband's family is Norwegian and he really wanted to incorporate that into DS's name so we named him Declan Thor, Thor obviously being Norwegian. I LOVE it and I think DS will love it also.

I always think of Oliver Cromwell.
