I wanted to share this because it was something new I learned being a first time mom. Many of you might already know this but if not then good stuff I think.
My 25 month old daughter had a double ear infection last week. Although meds are done and she seems all better- per the doctor we are going back on Monday to have her ears looked at again.
The doctor said that many times we just think the infection is all gone because the meds are gone and they feel better/no fever but sometimes some puss and stuff can still be in thier ears needing a lower dosage of the antibiotic and more time to heal. Thats why sometimes they keep coming back over and over because they never really went away in the first place.
Fingers crossed its all gone on Monday!
Re: wanted to share advice from doctor
It's always interesting to me how differently doctors treat their patients from office to office. DD had the start of pneumonia and a single ear infection back in August. They treated her with strong antibiotics and told me to come back for a follow up visit. When I brought her back the doctor said her chest sounded great, but her ear was still *** and it had spread to her other ear. She asked how her mood was, how she was eating, etc. I told her she was great, you would never know. And her doctor said, "Well we treat the child, not the infection. If she seems OK let's leave it alone and see if it goes away." Brought her back for her well visit, doctor looked in her ears and they were clear.
Hope all looks good on Monday!
