Hey ladies. I haven't posted in forever, mainly a lurker, but I had a quick question.
Yesterday I went to my OB for my annual exam, etc., and she said it felt like I had a small cyst on my left ovary. She told me she wanted me to come back in for an ultrasound. That was about the gist of it, as it was the end of the appointment, and it didn't SEEM like it was a big deal. Anyway, I made my appointment for the ultrasound, but they said the next available one wasn't until December 27. Just feels like a long time to wait.
I have major anxiety issues regarding all things health related, so I always freak myself out over nothing. I'm trying to stay away from Google because it tends to make me think the slightest twitch means something serious.
Could anyone who has had experience with ovarian cysts give me some info? Is following up with an ultrasound the normal routine when the doc thinks she feels a cyst? What generally happens next? I'm not even really sure what my question is, and I'm sure this sounds silly. I guess I just need reassurance that there isn't anything to freak out about.
Thanks for reading my ramble of a post!
Re: Ovarian cysts?
She didn't give me any exercise restrictions, or anything like that. It's almost like she barely mentioned it, which is weird. She literally just said it felt like I have a cyst, said I'd have to come in for an ultrasound, changed the subject to something about my prescriptions, and was out the door. I guess I'm kind of thinking more about it now because I didn't have time to ask questions. If I had asked questions, I would probably feel better, lol. Why do I do this to myself?
Thanks, ladies!
As all pp's said, it is very common, usually no big deal. I had a softball sized cyst when I was pg with DD and it disappeared on its own. Have had no issues since.
If your dr was not concerned, I don't think you should be. GL!!!
Try not to worry, I bet it will be resolved on its own by your appointment.
