Pregnant after IF

Nosy co-workers *sigh*

So in Canada you get a year off after having a baby, you go on unemployment and you receive 55% of your income from the previous year.

So being the smart budgeter that I am I have been planning for this loss of income for a while now.

I have had TWO co-workers ask me if I'll be able to afford being off for a year! I said yes, but looking back I'm sure I could have said a really nice snarky comment... *sigh* missed opportunities!

I just work with a bunch of gossipy women who ask too many questions! :p

EDIT: anybody else have nosy co-worker stories to share?

LOL!  I wish I had thought of that as a comeback!

Yeah, shouldn't it be obvious with your belly that you are still pregnant?  I guess sometimes people just don't think before they speak!

  • so sorry about nosy.

I work at a big company, so I get tip-toed around a lot.  The worst I got was a coworker telling me I had to use the bradley method, no epidural, and to make sure to squat to delivery otherwise it was going to take longer and hurt worse

  • Canada is a pretty awesome place to live when your expecting, that's for sure ;) Nosy people are terrible - I have only told a small amount of people but already some of the 'advice' I'm getting is unwanted. One gem I got recently was: "Make sure you give yourself an enema every day for two weeks after the birth, and rub Vicks Vaporub inside your anus to bring down the hemorrhoids",,,,,,that one really threw me for a loop. We have medications and stuff nowadays for constipation and hemorrhoids... whatever...I'm sure it was a good solution 30 years ago though..  :/

TTC since 2004, Ectopic 2005, lost right tube. Multiple miscarriages. Baby girl born June 2013.
  • Go Canada! That leave is great!!

I don't have a sory but it made me think of this: 'Quick, check your face because I just found a nose in my business!'  I honestly can't remember where I heard that, but it made me laugh!

  • I sort of do but we are all really close so I think I share just as much with them as they ask. However lately I have been getting mad at some of them because 2 of the people I work with got married last spring and I am close to them and know that they have fertility issues (they knew they would before they got married). Everyone keeps asking them when they will have a LO (they are both a little older so if I know people think if they are going to do it they need to get started now). My heart hurts for them because I know they are trying and having a hard time and I cringe each time someone asks them and the girl says "we're working on it". UGH! I feel terrible for her and her husband. Crying

  • Sorry  you're having to deal with nosy coworkers.  I didn't have nosy ones, but there was another girl due 2 days before me, so we were constantly being compared.  She had her LO at 37 weeks, so the whole next 3 weeks people kept asking why I was still there.  Well, because I'm letting my baby come when she wants, not opting for a C section as soon as my doctor will let me.

Still jealous of your year off!  I hate being back at work.  :(
