Hate being home alone at night

So my husband is out of town for a few days, so it's just me and our 5 month old. I hate being home alone at night, I know that sounds childish.

Someone just knocked on our door really hard. I went upstairs with LO because I'm not going to answer, it's dark out and we don't have a peep hole. Then they did it again, very loudly. So I looked out our window from upstairs and after a few minutes I see three adult men walking away in diff directions. Ugh so freaked out, and I can't come up with any reason they would be knocking on my door. Anyway, I'm a weenie and feeling super uncomfortable.

Re: Hate being home alone at night

  • Totally. My husband is working out of town for 2 nights soon, and I will hate every minute of it.

  • Random people on my doorstep freak me out. We've got a big 'ol sturdy (and super attractive) security screen door for peace of mind - and an alarm system.

Keep an eye out! If you see anything else try calling the non-emergency number and inform the police that something seems shady. Hope you're safe!

I'd be freaked out too. The PPs are wise - call the dispatch and let them know. They'll send someone around to check things out.

Yes, please. I don't like this one bit.

  • I love being home on my own when DH travels for work. But that would freak me the eff out! Call non emergency

  • Yep DH goes out of town a lot for work and I hate it. That sounds very odd and scary I would be calling the cops.

  • I would have done the same thing. When DH travels, I let DD sleep with me and we lock the master bedroom door. I'm a chicken and I know it.

I would also call the non-emergency number. Couldn't hurt to have the police driving around.

I'd be calling the non-emergency number. They will send a patrol to check out the neighborhood. That sounds really creepy.

Me too. Stuff like this freaks me out.

  • My DH rotates days & nights, so I have night shift 1/2 the time.  I am more at ease with evening hours than I am keeping the kids quiet while he is asleep.

So...  did you hear anything else?  Did you call the police?

  • This freaks me out, and I'm home alone a lot at night.

    This really freaks me out.

  • My husband is out of town just a couple of hours away for business so LO and I are going to head out and stay with him. I originally didn't want to have to worry about figuring out what to do with a 5 month old in a hotel room for 4 days, but now I don't care haha.
  • I sleep with the closet light on when DH is gone. I also have two large and scary dogs, but I still feel like every crim in the area I knows I'm home alone.
    I make cute babies.

  • This is creepy.
I like to think our house looks trashy enough that burglars would skip it.
    Lol?
