Where in the world are you getting your stats? Did your doctor not discuss success rates with you at all?

Got my stats from RE...80% chance after three tries is 26% per cycle and since I am under 30 that makes sense. Aren't we supposed to be supporting eachother on this board?

I don't think you can add your chances of success to get 80 percent.  I wish....., but I could be wrong.

Thats what they told me! Thats why I am inquiring :-)

No, you're right. I'm guessing they said that within 3 IUIs, 80% of their patients achieve pregnancy. Just like 80% of healthy couples are successful in a year of TTC, but that doesn't mean the chances are 80 divided by 12. Each try is an isolated incident. It just happens that given a certain number of incidents, the desired outcome will happen for a certain percentage of people. 26% for an IUI cycle is really high, as far as I understand.

This. My RE two years ago told us there was 85 success rate after four IUI's at his clinic for people like us. But I don't know my chances per cycle...I'd guess around 20. But after three of them, still not KU. We can't tell you OP. Just know you might be in this for the long haul. Does it suck? Yes. But that's just how it is.

  • I'm in your situation... and we're on IUI#3, hence the term "unexplained infertility". In all honesty no one here can tell you your chances or why it will or will not work. I agree, all questions for your doctor.

  • My husband had really high post-wash numbers and I had back-to-back (2 day) IUI at 24 and 36 hrs after Ovidrel with 3 good sized follies and I still had BFN. The injectables are slightly higher success rates than clomid and it still didn't work for me (I too have unexplained IF)
    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.

    This.

Each IUI is an individual event.

Think of flipping a coin.  Each flip has a 50% chance of being heads.

That does not mean that if you flip it twice, there is a 100% chance of being heads.  Each flip is still 50%, even if you flip it 500 times.

    Love these!
