what would be on their Christmas (or any other holiday you may celebrate) list this year? My mom's having a hard time coming up with a "big" present for my nephew who will turn 8 in February. My niece is getting a beginner sewing machine and my youngest nephew is getting a drum set. My other nephew is really into the Beyblades stuff but I think that is going to be Santa's gift to him so my mom's stuck on ideas of what else he might enjoy because he hasn't expressed any interest in much else.

My daughter is 7 and we are getting her a tablet we haven't decided between the kindle fire and a cheapy tablet. If electronics are out does he have a scooter? That is one of my dd' s favorite things.

Legos...my sons love legos.  They can be expensive.  My mom bought each of my boys a big set for their "bigger" gift.  We got one kid a bigger set, one kid a medium set, and a big Imaginext pay set since they still love playing with their action sets.
