DD Sick...Help?

Well, dh had to go to fla. for the nite, so i am alone and prego! dd (23 months) has only been REALLY sick once when she was 11 months. Well, tonite she keeps waking up crying with this AWFUL cough that is like wheezing in her chest. It is scaring me.  i've never heard anything like it...almost like something is stuck.  Do i call pedi, wait til tomorrow?  i'm nervous since i've never heard anything like this..it's like she has difficulty talking.  I went in, she fell right back down....TIA

I would call the 24 hr help line tonight.

In the meantime, elevate her bed on one end and put the humidifier on.  If she has snot, try to get her to blow her nose or suction it out.

I would probably call the ped on call just to make sure it's not anything more than a cold, which it probably is. In the meantime, start up the vaporizer--it helps. I just started it for my 9-mo DD who is coughing in her sleep like every minute--I am right there with you. (Although I just had her at the doc on Wed, so I know it's just a cold). Good luck!

I would call now.  Are her nostrils flaring?  That is a sign that she is struggling to breathe.  Steam up the bathroom ans see if it helps her.
