Midwife Recommendations

Hi,

We just found out we're pregnant with our first and are overjoyed!  We want to work with a midwife, and need recommendations from those in the know.  Who did you use?  Did you birth in a hospital, birth center, or at home?  Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!

Re: Midwife Recommendations

  • I used the birth center in Bryn Mawr for my son and will use them again for this one.

My friend just used Ronni at https://www.womanwisemidwifery.com/ and was very happy, she uses the new Einstein hospital. Another friend is using Nicole at https://www.sudharmabirth.com/ for a home birth.  Ronni wouldn't take me for this pregnancy due to scheduling conflicts, but recommended Valley Birth Place, I have another friend going for a VBAC using them, she is at 20 weeks and happy so far with her care.

  • I just started seeing Ronni, this is my first pregnancy, I plan to deliver at the Montgomery Einstein hospital. I really like Ronni's style. I met her for a consult before signing on as a patient, I would suggest maybe doing the same.

  • Another recommendation for Ronni. I had a regular OB for my first and started with them but switched to her partway throught this pregnancy. She's great to talk to, laid back and I never feel like appointments are being rushed like I was feeling with the OB. I am pretty sure she doesn't do home births but she does hospital at the new Einstein and I believe birth place at Valley Birth Center.
  • Good for you looking for a midwife!

All good suggestions so far - I also have a more comprehensive list of midwives in the area on my website, broken down by hospitals, birth centers, and home, if you are interested in all the options.

I've attended births with most midwives/practices listed and of course, they all have their pros/cons, but overall they are all preferable options for having a less interventive approach to your pregnancy and birth. I think Ronni is great for hospital births. And Kate Aseron was my midwife for my second son's birth at home and have attended many births with her. Since they all have different personalities and ways of practicing, it's always a good idea to go have a consultation with a few care providers before choosing. Good luck!
