As part of my workup for my upcoming DE cycle the CA clinic wanted a current SIS (my last was seven months ago) and it showed adenomyosis. I am fairly concerned because, according to my RE, the area affected is a critical implantation area and the medical studies I have read so far are less than positive regarding IVF outcome (some siting up to a 50% lower ongoing pregnancy rate).
Oh and of course, the worst thing for this is estrogen, of which I will be pumping copious amounts of into my body for the DE cycle. Why can?t things ever go smoothly in this IF journey? You just get your head around one thing and you are given something else to deal with.

Re: XP: Anyone with adenomyosis?
Hi there...I recently had a MRI showing adenomyosis. I don't know much about it, just what I have read in research articles. What area is affected? I'm sorry, I know exactly what you are going through - one thing after another...countless bumps in the road... What has your doctor said? My doctor said I could continue as planned with the current IVF cycle (last day of bcp tomorrow). When I talk to my nurse tomorrow I will find out more information (and will share with you!)
My RE said the next step is an MRI, however he is confident that the interpretation of the SIS is correct as it was done by one of the top sonohysterography doctors in North America and my RE's review of the screen shots concurs with his findings.
From what I have been told, it appears that there is really nothing that can be done to halt the progression of adenomyosis. BCP can help the symptoms and Lupron may help suppress it temporarily (which I will be on for my cycle) but other than that, from what I have been told, it will continue to get worse. I was told it is different from endo in that it can?t be removed because it is in the wall.
...I don?t know the medical term for the area that is affected but was told that in my case the main area that is affected is the location where embryos generally implant.
Sorry to hear you are dealing with this too. I?ll be interested to hear what your nurse says tomorrow. Good luck!
