What do you use to clean kitchen floor?

DH and I have decided our method of sweeping with the broom and then using a swiffer wet is just not cutting it anymore.  We thought about trying the H2O mop or the Shark Steam Mop.  Has anyone used either?  I'm tired of my floor being so disgusting.  Thanks:)

Re: What do you use to clean kitchen floor?

  • Even though it's a complete pain and I hate doing it, I now scrub the kitchen and dining room on my hands and knees with a bucket of Mr. Clean. I have had two reconstructive knee surgeries, so it's no picnic to spend 30 minutes on my knees, but I feel like I get the floor so much cleaner when I'm right there at eye level. My mop never did well in the corners and I felt like it was never quite clean. If I could find another way, I would!

  • We have the Shark STeam Mop.  It works well,  but I do not feel like it takes the place of a good mopping with Mr. Clean.  I think it's great for inbetween cleanings though.

  • For deep cleaning, we use the carpet shampooer with the hard floor attachment and hard floor cleaner.  It seem to work really well, but our scrub brushes do not spin anymore.
  • if the swiffer isn't working for me I use vinegar and hot water and a Libmann wonder mop
  • I also believe there is NOTHING like the sweat equity of your arm strength, and scrubbing right there on the floor with your hands.

My floors are always gross, too!  It's so hard with two small kids and a bad back.  At least my son is pretty good about picking up if I ask him.

  • I use my 15 year old daughter. Perfect shine every time!
  • I sweep with a broom and then have a Steamboy.  It is "green" as you use water and it turns it into steam to clean your floors.  It is about 100.00 and was the best investment ever.  I still use a rag along the floorboards.  I also will put a little vinegar into the water to help clean the floors a little better.
