Happy Monday to you all! I hope all of the Americans had a nice Thanksgiving and all of the Canadians had fun taking over the boards on Thursday. :-) I knew intellectually before I got on the preggo train that things were going to be in a continuous state of flux, but actually *experiencing* it is a whole different ball of wax. The bras I got at 8 weeks are getting tight around the band (cups are still OK, but apparently my general girth is getting ginormous!), and I am currently going through my dresser drawer by drawer, trying every single item on, and boxing it up if it is too laughable to wear any more. I have lost over half of my pre-preg wardrobe.
At the same time, I am so happy to be making room in my heart, my house, and my life for this baby. When I hear the line from "Joy to the World" that goes, "In every heart, prepare him room," I smile and think of my son-to-be. There was never a finer reason to declutter.

Re: PG>35 Weekly Check-In: Making Room Edition
I did the closet purge thing too and put a bunch of clothes in storage. Half of what I kept will not go around me now. I don't know what I was thinking keeping some of it.
QOTW: DH had to give up his home office for the baby. It is now her nursery but he still has a dresser with his clothes in there too. DH is also sharing his closet with the baby. He has a walk in and I don't plus I have a lot more clothes than he does. I have not really given anything up except for my figure and my shoes. My feet are so swollen that I can't wear my pre-pregnancy shoes. I have had to adjust my work schedule. DH and I were both workaholics but I have now cut back. I used to travel as much as I was in the office but now I am only willing to travel 4 times a year max and none of that will be until after she is 6 months old. I am going to try to work part time during my maternity leave but I am putting the baby first.
Updates and vents: As per my earlier post, my baby now has socks. I also did my registry and bought her some super cute outfits. The only thing that I have not picked out is a high chair. I have not found one that I really like yet.
My swelling is not as severe as it has been. I am hoping at my Friday appointment that some of the restrictions that my doctor gave me will be lifted. Some of my family members have mentioned that they are buying Christmas gifts for the baby so that warms my heart to know that they are getting excited about her.
QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way?
What was the office became the nursery. No big deal just moved the office downstairs. Just all the baby stuff around is different. House already feels a little more cluttered.
All these great cute fall shoes I bought at the Nordstrom sale sit in my closet. My feet are too swollen and I can not currently wear them.
Share your updates and vents: One week! Baby is still breech so c-section is still a go. starting to freak a little bit. Especially when people ask me if I am OK with a C-section. I am fine with it, whatever is best for baby and I but then I worry that I am not more freaked about it. Not looking forward to no drinking after 11 next Sun night before the procedure.
QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way?
We moved into a new house and had to re-do a room for baby. It has been a lot of fun putting it together. Yesterday I just sat in there and looked at all of the work we have done and I just love it!
We have been talking a lot to our son about the arrival of his baby sister and what that means. He is 4 so he has a pretty good understanding of what's going on and how he will be able to help. We also enrolled him in a siblings class offered by the hospital to help him learn what he can expect when baby comes home. We have been having him help organize and put stuff together so that he feels he's a party of the journey too. Great...I am about to start crying after writing this. Stupid hormones!

I have a visit with my OB today and NOT looking forward to getting on the scale after T-giving weekend. I really went crazy....especially with desserts
Same here w/the bra situation, Danuli. I went from a pretty full B/light C, to now a full C. I had bought 3 nice C cups before becoming pregnant and they have served me well. Now that the band (36) is getting tight, I got a bra back extender from Joanne's Fabrics- I highly recommend it if you're in this same boat (Back widening/cup staying the same)-
QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way? Not only are we preparing for the baby, but also my mother to come live with us. So, we are pretty much rearranging the whole house. The biggest task was getting the baby's room ready- we have painted, hung curtains, steam cleaned the carpet and ordered/put together the furniture. DH is still making room in his brain for this eventuality- I don't think he's quite accepted it as "real" yet- but I think things like painting and constructing the furniture are helping him get there.
Share your updates and vents: 21 weeks and starting to feel like a stuffed sausage F/up U/S this Thurs at 3:30 ET to double check bebe's heart. FX!
Wednesday, I spent a full 45 minutes trying on every non-underwire bra at the specialty lingerie shop. No luck. The bras were either not supportive enough or plain just didn't fit. And they all pretty much gave me 1940s cone/pointy boobs. Not to mention-- you can put all the bows you want on these monstrosities, they still look like 1940s grandma bras. Ugh. Seriously, it was liking wearing a halter top. I'm just going to have to splurge and spend $50 on a larger version of the bra I bought myself for work. I never thought I'd have to go to F, but here I am. I can only hope my boobs don't get any bigger!
QOTW: As I nap every day, I think I'm starting to realize that I won't have that luxury once the baby comes. But I'll be just as tired, I'm sure. I think, too, we're going to have to do some work with the pets to get them used to a baby coming into the picture. My cat especially, as the room he has sort of claimed (MH's office) will become the baby's room. At least the baby will be born in June, so the cat can be outside most nights to get away from the kerfuffle. Otherwise, I think we haven't really done much to make space. We are always trying to (re)organize because we have too much cr@p. MH is getting very frustrated. I'm just too tired to spend hours going through boxes and then trying to find places for what we're keeping. I've agreed to one box a day, but he keeps pushing for more. Jerk.
Updates/vents: So, we told my extended family over Thanksgiving. My 96 year old grandmother keeps telling me not to lift anything. She told me I should tell my job that-- yes, because they're going to only assign me critically ill patients who aren't heavy and unconscious. I also announced on Facebook.
My MaterniT21 test is tomorrow morning. I'm nervous, but I'm not. Ignorance is bliss, mayhaps? I dunno. I'm more excited for my OB appointment on Friday. I want to hear that HB again-- and it will be the first time MH hears it. I'm also hoping that they draw some blood and test my thyroid. Otherwise, not much else is going on...

QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way? We're renting a storage unit this week and will be moving a boat load of stuff into it. Living in a NYC apt, space is scarce! We're also going to have to move the cats out of what will become the nursery, we've been using it for basically random storage and litter boxes, they're not going to be happy but it's gotta be done. DH has a whole idea about retrofitting one of our big closets with a cat door so we can just stick the boxes in there. But I have a whole list of projects that need to be done and I already feel time slipping away!!!
Updates/Vents: LO gave me the best Thanksgiving Day present ever, starting on Friday I've been feeling movement very consistently, I've even felt a bump or two from the outside. It's kind of hard to get used to, I swear he's in constant motion in there, but I wouldn't change it for a thing, can't wait until DH can feel it too! My Mom also gave me the cutest bag of baby stuff, a little outfit, a blankie, a stuffed panda and the sweetest bedtime book, I couldn't help but be totally overwhelmed!

QOTW: Just last week I finally did a long overdue closet clean out to make room for some maternity. I am making a mental list of all that needs to be done before baby and getting pretty overwhelmed! I will probably not tackle much until after the holidays. We have also been talking about how different our life will be with a baby and how we want to handle the holidays from now on. All good things
Updates: as I already posted, I had my a/s today and everything went great. I have to go back in because she couldn't get all of the heart shots because of baby's position but she said there was nothing to be concerned about. We are having a healthy girl and feeling so exicted and blessed.

QOTW - We moved the bed out of our downstairs guest room / my office so DH could move his office in there. Baby's room is upstairs next to our and still has a full bed in it too (for nights when someone is fussy).
Updates/Vents - I have my glucose tolerance test on Thursday. Yippee. And I think we have picked the weekend for my shower in January. Now I just need to go and register.
omigosh - what HAVEN"T we had to do with 6 kids and a 1400 sq ft house? We were going to just rearrange kid bedrooms, but then realized that carpets would need shampooed, and walls repainted for whomever was going into the new room. That led to a "I don't think these carpets can come clean - they were here when we moved in 7 yrs ago & the kids have trashed them" conversation. That led to the how would we replace all the flooring? Which then led to, well, if we're going to do all of that, we also need to....
So, it has ended in DH gutting our upstairs - new hardwood floors, new molding, replacing the old trailer-house style bedroom doors with panel doors, new windows, removed the asbestos popcorn ceilings, resurfacing them, new paint, and new lighting in all the rooms and new bunk bed & trundle and closet system in the smaller room the girls moved into, and custom 3-tiered bunk bed and new dressers for the little boys' room. We let DS 1 keep his own room rather than moving the next younger boy in because it's a converted office/utility room, pretty small, and he's 7 yrs older than the next boy - we figure it's fair to let him have some privacy at his age.
The kids' rooms MAY be fully functional by the time the baby comes, but mine got pushed to the side - to be finished after baby gets here, because of DH's custom touches.
Regular updates: Baby appears to be head down again - thankfully. I've been having long periods of contractions about 30 min apart over the last 3 days. My blood sugar is all over the freakin' map. I've been trying so hard to control it with diet & exercise I've lost 2 of the only 6 lbs I gained. really hoping to get this little guy out by the end of the upcoming weekend - I don't want him bathing in my chaotic blood sugar anymore & just getting bigger and bigger.
I live in a DC condo so it is probably a lot like a NYC apartment. It is kind of small but I have no desire to move to the suburbs. We have a storage unit too. DH has informed me that I really need to go through my boxes. I still have all of my notes and books from undergrad in there. I am putting off that task for as long as possible.
So sweet on the gifts from your mom.
Please update me with GIRL!
QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way?
Bought a toddler bed and a dresser to make the spare room DS's big boy room. We haven't tried to make him sleep there yet....I'm so worried to ruin his great sleeping habits. Ugh...maybe this weekend.
Share your updates and vents:
Officially have GD again, so I'm back to seeing the high risk OB today for growth scans. Oh well, at least that means I get to see baby girl more often.
QOTW: What have you had to do, in both a literal and a figurative sense, to make room for the new baby that is coming your way?
Well, we haven't really done anything yet. Besides still trying to wrap my head around that we will have a baby in June! Very excited. Still trying to figure out how to fit a nursery - thoughts are to sacrafice our guest room for the nursery, but since all of our family is out of town, that kind of stinks. We are somewhat considering moving.

Not much to update, except we started sharing news with family over Thanksgiving. Still feeling pretty good
~~~BFP 10/9/12, EDD 6/17/13~~~
QOTW: We have nowhere to put this baby, so my husband is working on plans for a pretty major renovation on our house. We have done this before - when I was pregnant with our first, so it's not totally foreign to us. We will begin in the spring and hope to be done by next Sept....baby will bunk with us for a couple of months if needed......
Vents, Updates:
Got my first ultrasound for NT booked for Dec 19. Also got called for jury duty (again) on Dec 10, so I had to phone and make sure that if I get picked they give lots of bathroom and water breaks!!!!! All my clothes are starting to get a little snug, third baby and I feel like I'm popping already, although I know it's bloat!!!!
Karen - 36 DH - 39
I have jury duty on Dec 5. I went a few months ago but the jury that I got picked for was a month long trial. They told me that I would have to cancel all of my appointments or pick another date to serve. I am hoping to get a short trial this time. Good luck to you!
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
I still have to do all of this, but we need to clean and organize my sewing room so that I can combine it with the guest room. What is now the guest room will become Nugget's room. In order to do this, we need to relocate the cats from the sewing room.
In addition to making physical room, we had to make financial room, too. We have planned for adding baby to insurance and maxing out the dependent care FSA.
Figuratively, we have to make room in our lives. We met each other later and had to learn to live together after years of being on our own. Now we will have to learn to care for our child and still care for our relationship.
Share your updates and vents: I don't have any updates this week. It will be quiet from now until our next appointment on 12/19.The Daily Nugget
