I just finished that book yesterday morning.
I have to say, I liked it. Clearly, the twist with Rosie being the subject of Jacobs secret was interesting, mindblowing even. Clearly the author did her research, and I loved that the book provided a peek to the Circus world and the depression era. I also loved her descriptions of Jacobs feelings as an old man and his points of view.
Again, in part, the story is such a clich?. August is a prick to Jacob, wife tries to make it up to him, dinner, lots of drinking, August passes out, meaningful conversation between Jacob and Marlena. I guess I just expected more from the love story itself.
I also thought the dialogs between Jacob and Marlena were at times pretty lame (like the one in the hotel)
Overall, I think it was a pretty good read.
Re: anybody care to discuss "Water for Elephants" (SPOILER ALERT)
+1, I couldn't agree more
I plan on seeing the movie today
