I'm sick.
coughing, runny nose, etc.
I'm also on the 2WW now (6dpo).
Dr. Wants me to take hydrocodone cough syrup. It's category C, but he says its more of a concern for late pregnancy.

I would probably avoid it unless absolutely necessary... But I'm a little nutty!

is there an alternative you could take that's not on any list? 

I mean, your doctor wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't safe, but I'd probably look for an alternative just in case.

on another note, drink lots of water and some of that tea

Thank you ladies, you are saying what I'm thinking.

my dr says that violent coughing can cause MC early on, so if I'm sick now, he wants to nip this in the bud..

but I think I can live without this stuff, I've had bronchitis before, and took it then - it knocks me out within minutes, and then I'm drowsy for another 4-8 hours after I wake up. This stuff is strong.

I have very bad asthma and have been in the 2ww recently. I had to take the wonderful cough medicine along with other medication bc it is worse to not have enough oxygen then to take the medication and it wouldn't be a very good or healthy start to a pregnancy if this cycle really did work.

FWIW- I had to take the medication when I was pregnant with my DS bc the dr told me it was worse for the baby not to get oxygen then the effects of a category C medication. He is a healthy little boy right now and the medications had no side effects on him

This. If your doc says its ok, I'd trust him. Being suck isn't good for ttc either. I'd do a half dose and see if it helps.

I'm not sure how to weigh in what to do with the meds, but I certainly hope you're feeling better soon!

I'd trust your doc. Don't go messing with dosing either take or don't take.

Personally, I probably wouldn't, but like other PPs, I'm a little nutty too.

Yes, if you're not getting enough oxygen, that would be bad, but if you just have a regular cold with a cough, that won't really affect oxygenation.

Thank you again ladies, I skipped it tonight, and I think I am fine to skip again.

Kitty woke me up at 4:00am due to his major need for attention - but otherwise the night went by without a hitch.

I coughed like a crazy person at 4am, and then again at 7:30 when I actually got up. I sound worse then I am, but I will survive
