The transition to formula has been horrible! My DD is spunky and very temperamental to begin with. So add her personality to her upset belly and boom! And explosion has occurred! She is inconsolable! I'm in tears and she is in tears! Please someone tell me this will pan out soon! I know I'm new here but any positive stories would be much appreciated! I keep using Dr Google and now I'm afraid she will have some terrible allergy and will take forever to find right formula! Going to make pediatrician apt. Tomorrow so that I can just talk it all out and get a game plan to set my mind at ease. I know I can be more calm and help soothe her better if I have a game plan!
Re: Feeling very overwhelmed!
Not gonna lie. We've been fighting the good fight with formula since Chloe was 4 days old and we still haven't found the perfect solution but let me offer what I can.
The first change we made was from a 'regular' formula for one for sensitive bellies. We eventually found Similac Sensitive to be the best.
Then we changed bottles, we use evenflo advanced (simply comfi). That added some more improvement. (Most people suggest Dr. Browns, we've never tried them but I bet they are good.)
I added gas drops to the bottle (target brand) and that helped, but recently switched to giving her the gas drops orally by themselves about 10 minutes pre bottle, that works better.
She takes a 5 oz bottle so I burp her at 2.5 oz and then at 5oz.
Hold baby upright for at least 15 minutes after a bottle and on that note feed sitting as upright as possible.
Expect spit up.
Chloe will spit up whenever the heck she feels like it from one bottle and onto the next. Invest in good bibs.
I recommend Aden + Anais Burpy Bibs for burping and their snap bibs for wearing all the time. Very absorbent and they get more absorbent the more that they get washed.
Good luck!!
