Along the same lines as OUgrad, I am buying my DS a Nexus 7 tablet for Christmas. Where do I pick up my Excellence in Parenting trophy?nbsp;
It's not that I think it is bad parenting or flame worthy. There are just so many things I'd buy first. If you have all that though, it makes sense I guess. Your money, your choice.
I am the only one in my office today. I kind of want to sneak out and play hooky.
Also, I was asked to cover for the woman who usually volunteers to clean the church once a week. I have done it in the past but said I couldn't this week, unless she was okay with me just spot cleaning. I'd do any dishes, vacuum crumbs, and clean obvious messes, but not a deep cleaning.
She's all stressed about finding someone to do a full cleaning, but I don't scrub down my apartment walls weekly and vaccuum behind all furniture weekly. I will not spend a day with a toddler cleaning the church.
Along the same lines as OUgrad, I am buying my DS a Nexus 7 tablet for Christmas.
Where do I pick up my Excellence in Parenting trophy?
I don't care about kids having electronics or how much people spend on gifts. I just think OU is an idiot.
To be fair, I do think the cost of an iPad (let alone 2 of them) is excessive, and the Apple apps can be quite expensive. I wouldn't spend any more on electronics for my DS than what we are paying for the Nexus.

Especially when a 2 year old gets to clicking on shiit they don't understand. My boss can tell you all about how that can end up. His 3 year old got a hold of his and downloaded $150 worth of apps in about 10 minutes. It only stopped because it flagged his account and they called him.
does his 3 y.o know his apple password? Izz has clicked to buy shiit but always gets blocked by the password entry.
"Seriously, mommy forum people are some crazy ass bitches." New Year New You

OMG, I know! Our DS did that a few times on my DH's tablet, so DH had to enable some sort of password-protected method for app purchases. That one-click buying shizz can be dangerous.
Look, my intention wasn't to stir up drama. As I said, I've been weighing pros and cons and curious what some of the ladies thought. I see that I gave you guys something to complain about today so, yay for me. Enjoy.

I don't think people are complaining. I just think many people think there are things they'd rather spend money on. And it sounds like you were bragging.
I still think its ridiculous to buy expensive tablets for kids that still poop in their pants.
I also then don't feel bad when people complain about money or their taxes going up when they can still afford to drop hundreds of dollars on a gadget for their toddler.

Honestly not my intention-I am sorry if that's the way it came across. I wanted opinions and I've obviously gotten them.

After carefully considering, we have decided to get Landry and Hudson each an Ipad for the holiday. The pads are 295 from Sams and games to download are about 2 bucks each.
......Many considerations as we have come to our decision and we are biting the bullet. Our 2.5 year olds are getting Ipads from Santa.
Yes, you sounded so undecided. Is it possible for you to stop playing dumb or is it a compulsion?
It isn't even 9am yet, and I'm already stuffing my face with a HUGE plate of leftovers. I also intend to eat apple crisp for my breakfast dessert too...with ice cream.

my family is still sleeping and I'm debating this...lolol I just don't know because some freakin bacon sounds real good right now.
We will never have an Apple product in our house. Well unless someone brings their own of course. I was meh about them and kid of wanted an ipod for a few years but when they got all sue happy against Samsung I sided with DH's views. I giggled with glee when I heard that Samsung raised the price of the processors they make for iphones by 300% . I am sure the iphone 6 users will not be so giggly when their phone is way more than the last 5 they bought.
I had fun being a post whore yesterday and I'm glad it helped keep the board moving on a day that usually has 10 posts made.

My husband cooked a bacon-wrapped turkey yesterday. Win for me!
Someone needs to post something more flammable that what they bought their kids for Christmas or what they are eating. Seriously. No one else is here. Everyone else took today off. I am boooored.

LOL it's sad when ipads are the most flammable post of the day.
I'm here. My confession is kind lame, but here goes anyways:
I am wearing makeup today for the first time in over a year .
The reason I'm wearing makeup TODAY is because I put it on YESTERDAY for our family pictures. I was too tired (or lazy) to take it off last night, so I just wiped what had gone South this morning and voil?. Classy, right?

Paris Hilton says in her book that day old makeup makes your skin look "dewy"
Here's a flammable! I own Paris Hiltons book! It was buy 3 get one free so I picked it from the small selection.
Another flammable part. One of the books I bought to get the free Paris Hilton book was "The Diaries on Courtney Love"

go ahead, post your juicy confession! no one is stopping you....
DS has about 25 gifts for Christmas. Im still under my budget which is 300 and I didnt spend over 30 bucks for any gift. Everything was thought out and I think he will really like everything. This is the first year we could really spoil him and hes outgrown a lot of his toddler toys so yup my kid is getting 25 presents under the tree.

i'm boring.
I can't come up with any! I am trying.
Umm... I didn't put a bed rail on DS's bed when we switched him to the toddler bed. He fell out three times the first night. I am hoping he will learn without the rail but I didn't really research to see if he is developmentally able to control himself that much while sleeping.
Also I just posted a UO instead of a FFFC bc well, I missed a day.
So here's my FFFC: I DGAF what people buy or spend on their kid for holidays but that post made me think of mine.
DH doesn't own or use electronic devices. This includes things like Leap Pad etc. I just enjoy having him learn from books and toys more and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible. Sometimes I feel bad when I read how much other people's kids enjoy and learn from the Leap Pad and other educational devices. But then I still just don't buy them.
He does occasionally get to watch a YouTube video on one of our phones or something but no games. He's going to hate me someday isn't he?
ETA: games etc. aren't "forbidden"...I'm sure he plays games on Grandma's iPad and that's fine. Just not part of the routine at home.
My DS is forbidden from playing with my iPhone and iPad. They're expensive and they're not toys. I don't want a kid who calls 911 on my phone by accident or breaks my iPad. Kids get enough exposure to technology - he has other toys to play with.
Oh, here's one maybe? I'm about 50% pizzed at Target and other retailers for opening last night and keeping their employees away from their families on Thanksgiving. Then I remember that I always worked on Thanksgiving and Easter when I worked at a grocery store and wonder what the difference is. I realize that for some people retail jobs are what they're working because it's all that's available. But many more need the flexible hours for whatever reason (like I did as a student), and the payoff is working days you don't want to sometimes.
So now I'm kind of meh about it. Doesn't make me respect the retailers at all, and I won't shop on Thanksgiving, but I can't quite get it up to be all "BOYCOTT TARGET!!!" and all that jazz.
I'm Meh. When I was a teen, I used to work Christmas/Thanksgiving shifts at a hotel reservations center. If I didn't get scheduled, I'd wait until someone offered money to take a shift. Usually people would pay $20-50 to sell their shift. I got to work and be away from family insanity, got holiday pay, AND GOT EXTRA CASH ON THE SIDE. It was awesome.
This might be something I'm eating my words on in a few years, so moms with older children feel free to chuckle/say "just you wait".
Kind of inspired by the ipad post below (and a post on my facebook)--I judge people who buy multiple versions of the same toy for their kids. You can't share, you don't play with it in my house.

Yep. She posts some of the dumbest opinions on here and definitely does not care what TB thinks.
I agree, she is LCB-ish with her flaunting. Not very becoming of someone who's supposed to be a high-class broad.

I think you ladies (and gents) might want to head over the April 2013 FFFC's.

(Sorry it's not clicky)
Another FFFC is that I just copied and pasted my FFFC from here to there. Or was it the other way around?
