DH is gonna kill me...

*gasp* I spent money on clothes for him... I am such a bad wife

I will admit that I did spend almost $500 on him but he almost never buys new clothes. Also, in addition to teaching FT I also teach college PT (2 online classes) so if he makes a fuss I'm planning to justify the purchase by the fact that the extra monthly stipend I receive for teaching PT more than covers this purchase (also the fact that most of his clothes are very worn/faded). He is a big guy so I have to shop at Casual Male XL for his clothes and naturally they cost more but they were having a great sale (buy 1 get one free polos, button-down SS shirts 1/3, $10 off jeans) so I think that merits a larger than normal purchase. For $500 I got him 4 t-shirts, 8 polo shirts, 3 dress shirts and 2 pairs of blue jeans. I didn't do that badly, did I?

Also, one of his shirts is a Star Wars shirt with Darth Vader on it that says "Who's your daddy?", I couldn't help myself... I'm a sci-fi nerd and so is he. I was this close to getting an Atari shirt for him but decided instead on Ghostbusters (he loves the movies, mainly the first one).

ETA: This all stems from the fact that he hates, HATES, to spend money on clothes. He would be wearing clothes with holes in them if I didn't shop for him. I'm debating on putting just a few things in his closet over the course of the next few months but am not sure b/c that seems dishonest although I didn't make any attempt to hide the purchase through our checking account.

  • Lol the title reminded me of Clone Wars. " My master is gonna kill me!"

DH never gets new clothes. I always have to buy them. The majority of his shirts are star wars shirts because he can wear jeans and tees to work. I bought him mostly clothes for Christmas. He's getting a Vader hoodie. I wanted the wookie one but he can't wear something that dorky in public.

  • I think Christmas will bring his total to 20ish. The wookie sweater was furry with the ammo belt across the chest

Omg, I want that, almost as much as I want a soft kitty hoodie.
  • I would totally wear it sometimes but I won't even spend 60 on a pair of jeans so I couldn't do it. Especiallly after getting the Vader hoodie with the Vader hood.

Spill, where are you getting these hoodies, Think Geek? And you need to get a pair of jeans over $60, just once. You won't be sorry. Oh, just cheat and get them off eBay, mine are normally $80+, but I usually only pay around $30 or less.
  • I found them at a murdawgs store in the mall. I saw them at a comic book store too for 75. The have to be online somewhere but I haven't looked.

  • My weight has changed so much in the last 4 years that I don't know what size of jeans I will end up in. I bought 3 sweet pairs off a friend when she was selling a bunch of clothes and then dropped a few pounds before getting pregnant so I'm still wearing those.

  • Clothes shopping is the worst. My wife buys all my clothes.

She hates what I pick out anyway.

    .

DS's cat had a stroke back in February and died last week. DS has Aspergers; I am Mary Cooper. Cat care has been a tag team sport- last month I came home to find DS singing soft kitty to his cat while giving him a bath after having an accident.

    DS needs this-

  • Your H sounds just like mine.  I can't remember the last time he went out to buy clothes if he didn't have a gift card, etc.

  • DH is down to 2 pairs of jeans and our discount store that carried them is gone now. (Remember FUBU? 1996?) They were only 25 bucks and they had the perfect sized pockets. I have to take him pants shopping now and he will actually have to try them on. It's going to be rough.

  • Okay, good to know I'm not alone in dressing my hubby. Why won't men buy themselves clothes?
