This group is open to anyone who has Diminished Ovarian Reserve or Premature Ovarian Failure (sometimes also called Primary Ovarian Insufficiency ? POI). 

 

This check-in will be posted each Wednesday.  If you?d like to be added to this group, please reply to this message, and I?ll make sure to add you for next week.  Welcome to the lurkers!  We know this can be a difficult journey, but we welcome you with open arms.  Let us know if we can answer any questions.

Status Update:  I haven't posted in a while because I've kind of been in a dark hole of depression and despair with no progress whatsoever to report on. Although, as of last week, that all changed.

 

We had a woman from VA contact us and offer us five embryos. She received them from her clinic anonymously five years ago and gave birth to a beautiful son. While neither of us know the genetic parents of these embryos, we plan to have an open relationship with one another so at least our children will know genetic siblings. We are working with attorneys to draw up the contract this week and I'm hopeful we will be finished with that aspect of it all by next week. We are over the moon excited! My mom passed away last Christmas and I've been really anxious about the approaching anniversary of her death. Before she died, she promised me she would "pull some strings in heaven" for our IF battles.  I've prayed and prayed for us to at least have embryos in our possession by Christmas. Looks like Christmas might come a little early!

 

I've been wearing a snowflake pendant that belonged to my mom since we got the news that we were picked to receive them on Friday. It's a constant reminder of our soon-to-be snowbabies.

 

QOTW: I could not be more grateful for this gift of embryos. After I got the call, I hung up the phone and just cried yelling THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! This could not be unfolding on a more appropriate week. I am also so incredibly thankful for DH, my supportive family, and of course all of you ladies. I have no idea where I would be without you all - but I know it wouldn't be good. Have a wonderful Holiday!

Hello girls! I'm new to this check in. MH and I started our first IVF this month and during testing found my AMH to be 0.69.. I'm 27. Boo. We didn't freak out too badly since my AFC was 15.. but here we are after ER and they only got 5 eggs, 3 of which fertilized via ICSI, and my RE gave me the DX of DOR. Friday will be our 3dt. 

QOTW: I'm very thankful for my optimistic and supportive husband. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to go through this with. He's even snarky with me when we need it I'm also thankful that my mom is still here after being dx with stage 3b stomach cancer in July. She's going through radiation/chemo right now and it's tough but she's living with MH and I so we're taking care of her, too.

FX for a BFP for you. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I went through something similar last year with my Mom and colon cancer. I'm here for you if you ever need to talk. Dealing with IF AND watching a loved one deal with cancer is awful. Big hugs to you!

Status Update: 

We got our genetic testing back it was all normal  I had my HSG today, which revealed normal uterus, normal right side tube and left side showed Hydrosalpinx. So I am on antibiotics after the procedure today and we have our follow up with RE on Dec 6th.

 I have been doing some research online regarding Hydrosalpinx and IVF....will I need surgery? Drainage? I feel like every one step forward we take one step back! If anyone has any experience let me know. Thanks 

 QOTW: I am thankful for my thoughtful, caring, supportive and optimistic DH. I could not have gotten through all this without him by my side. He is my rock.

Update: I am on lupron and vivelle, prepping for our donor embryo cycle. I have a lining check on the 30th and then if everything goes well transfer should be somewhere around 12/7-12/12.

QOTW: I am thankful that there's OPTIONS out there for us outside of adoption and IVF. I am thankful for this board as well as the many other boards that have been a support to us during this process. And I am thankful for my DH because he is so positive and upbeat, he's really kept me from just shutting down. He can always find the silver lining in situations and the good in people.

Status update:  I went in for my baseline this morning and everything looks good, so I start stims tomorrow!  Approx. ER is still 12/3.  I'm super nervous about how the next few weeks will go, and hoping I get a decent number of good eggs.  

QOTW: I'm very thankful for my wonderful DH.  He's been so understanding of everything, taking way more than his share of the household stuff, etc.  I'm also very thankful for my co-workers and boss.  They all know what is going on, and are super supportive.

I guess I belong here given my AMH level. We are in the 2WW following IVF #1 converted to IUI #4. I am supposed to call if AF does not show by next Wednesday. If negative, we have a month off before IVF #1.2 in January.

Status Update: IUI was a bust.  My response was great but the lupron trigger shut me down in the LP and my progesterone and estrogen levels plummeted beyond repair.  We just triggered last night for a TI cycle.  If my response is good next month I will try to get one last ivf in this year.

 QOTW:  I am thankful for my wonderful DH.  Sometimes I think I hit it so right in the husband department that is why everything else seems to come up a big fail.  I am very thankful for my parents and that they are in good health.

Hello ladies!   Update:  We had a Sonohysterogram and it was normal.  My plan before we found out we were pregnant was to take a break until March and save and do IVF.  Wellll... we had success with the Bravelle and IUI soo the doctor doesn't feel we need IVF quite yet.  He wants to do a couple more rounds of Bravelle and IUI.  I told my husband and at first he said No.  He said he needed the break until March and that we didnt have enough money to keep going right now.   Well after the Sono he said he wants to start back up in December.  I keep going back in forth.  I worry if we wait that I am wasting precious time!  We are probably going to start back up in December !! 

QOTW:  I am sooooo very thankful for my husband!! He is truely an amazing guy and is soo sweet and loving!!  I am thankful for my friends and family who have been soo supportive through this IF process and let me talk about it when I need to.  I am also thankful for my puppy !! He is kind of filling a little of the void of not having a baby.  Annd our new home!  We just got our first house in July!  : ) Anndd my job!! Although at times it can be soooo hard because I am dealing with IF it is truely an amazing job (if you dont know I am a Labor and Delivery nurse).  I have soo much to be thankful.. Just wish that IF wasnt sooo consuming.

We were all set to start IVF at the beginning of Novemebr but we ended up getting cancelled:( My AFC was really low and FSH was too high! I was and still am so disappointed. Doesn't look like a December cycle will work out timing wise with the embryology lab being closed. So now I am just so nervous that this will be the month my numbers are good enough to go and yet won't be able to. Struggling to let go of timing and control right now! So we are doing nothing this cycle, just acupuncture and hoping for improved numbers going forward so we can start a new IVF cycle. ASAP!

QOTW: I am really grateful for the people who have rallied in my life. My parents, of course my amazing husband, my best friend, and the new friends I have met on this journey.

Hello everyone.

I have mixed feelings about being here. We just talked to our doc last week... I am 30 years old with an AMH of 8 pmol/L around 1.0 ng/ml with an AFC of 6, and FSH results aren't back yet....

We just met with our doc last week and have been advised to start trying with a natural cycle iui with the next cycle. The doctor really emphasized to us that we shouldn't wait...

We are still processing what this means for us, and the hurryupandwait aspect of working with the fertility clinic. Anyway, as I am still feeling a bit dazed with the dx I thought I would pop in here, say hello, and listen for some of your stories and experiences...

Status Update: Hello all!  We are waiting to cycle in January.  I really wanted us to enjoy the holidays without the stress of being on a strict schedule with injections and monitoring appointments.

 

QOTW:   I am so thankful for my DH.  He is the kindest and most compassionate person I know.  He is my rock. I am also thankful for my family.  My parents & sisters are such a huge source of support for me.    I have so much love around me that it helps us as we continue on the arduous journey.
