I am!nbsp; But I'm taking off a couple hours early and I do have Friday off so no complaints from me.nbsp; Sorry you don't have any PTO left.nbsp; [:]
It happens. Sucks, but it's what we had to do. DH didn't get time off as a med student. They gave him thirty minutes off to sit with me when I had surgery to remove my IUD, and thought that was super generous. He's done now so as long as DS doesn't get sick while DH travels we should be good. I do have one comp day and one PTO day I am hoarding, and am trying to build a few more hours of comp time.
I'm here today and Friday, but will probably get off early both days.

I just started this job as a Contractor back in August. They converted me to a a direct hire this week. I was able to negotiate an extra week of vacation to start (3 wks/year) but I am not eligible to start using it until Jan 2013. However, my supervisor and his Director are awesome and are giving me Christmas Eve and New Years Eve off so two 4-day weekends in a row woohoo.
Also, they let us purchase an additional week of vaca a year and they prorate the time off by taking it out each pay period. I am considering doing this so I can have 4 weeks off next year.
Also, since I won't qualify for FMLA yet- they are getting with HR to figure out how I can get the time off when the kid gets here. Typically, if you take FMLA time and it is for the birth of a child- the company will pay father's 2 weeks of paid paternity leave. If they can't work something out, they said they will just let me "work from home" for 2 weeks (I do this often anyway- just remote in for work). Worst comes to worst, I'll just take 2 weeks of vacation. That will still leave me with 1 (maybe 2 if I buy a week) of vacation left.
I know this was more than asked- just sharing my thoughts because it helps to write it out.

RTV, that is freaking awesome you get paid paternity leave. I wish more places were like that. I wish my DH had that kind of thing. Maybe residency will be better, with the new restrictions on working hours.
Mint, what do you do? I am assuming doctor or nurse?

I'm an OB nurse. Way back in the day I was preparing to go to med school when I saw how the residents basically never left the hospital and I decided it was something I had absolutely no desire to do, even temporarily. I love my job but I'm glad I get to leave at the end of my shifts!
Me. Apparently parents want their kids to get their teeth fixed while on Thanksgiving break and not miss school. I am on call until Sunday at 8 AM... so lots of TB time I guess?
Although it could be worse- DH has to work today, tomorrow, and Friday all day.

Wow, 30 minutes. How nice of them.
Seriously though, it stinks having to build PTO back up.
The worst part was that DH was all excited about that thirty minutes too. He is so used to being treated like crap that he thought it was great. Tbh, I didn't expect him to get any time. I planned rides and such from friends. I should have been happy about that time. But them giving him 30 minutes only felt like a slap in the face.
I told him if he acts like a douche to the med students when he is a resident I will be pissed. Long hours I can live with. Threatening grades to try and control the med students isn't cool.
It would be more yay if I wasn't hourly and having to use vacation hours to make up the $$. O-well, we are closed Friday and I'm getting holiday pay for that so I guess it's all good.
I'm working, but I only work 4 hours/day and we close 2 hours early, so I'm working 2 hours (but getting paid for 4!). It seems a litle ridiculous because I have an hour+ commute, but whatever.
I am working today and Friday as well. Daycare illnesses completely dessimated my PTO and the remainder of my PTO is saved for our vacation at the end of the month.
Shiit. I'm working way too effing hard today. I've nearly had 5 panic attacks already. I'm planning an assembly for my high school and things are falling apart at the seams and my PowerPoint isn't working and my videos won't be embed into it and I'm losing my freaking mind, oh and I only got to eat 1/3 of my lunch and this pregnant lady is starving and has 2 classes to teach and thus can't eat until 3 when I have my club meeting to figure out what the eff we're doing for the assembly Friday ...
Re: Who's working today?
Raises hand!
But all that entails is teaching a one hr bodypump class with free childcare. So, no complaints

I am & I'm super busy so no fun shenanigans around here today, got it?
I do not have to work Friday though.

Ditto to this!
I'm "working".
Rumor has it we are closing at 2 today, so yay.

I am at work.
I haven't actually DONE any work yet, but it's only 9:15 AM. I have drank coffee. That counts for something, right?
My morning commute was a breeze. I am hoping the evening commute is the same way!
