T & P needed for my boys.

Damien was supposed to come home today but instead had a blood transfusion for low hematocrit/red blood cell levels. Jace has been home with me since last Wednesday, but his levels last week were borderline and will be checked tomorrow. The doctor told me to expect him to have an outpatient transfusion this week. I have an antibody from a blood transfusion that passed through to them and is now attacking their red blood cells. The doctor said they could need multiple transfusions. Also that I should be prepared for these to be my last babies as the antibody gets stronger in subsequent pregnancies. I feel terribly guilty for harming my babies and devastated that I may never have more children.

I am SO sorry to hear all of that, I will be thinking about your boys.  I lost my uterus at delivery so along with that the possibility of having more babies.  When you are dealing with medical issues with your children and your reality of not having more children that is incredibly overwhelming.  Take lots of deep breaths, cry when you can, and allow yourself the time to mourn that loss after your babies are home and doing well.  I am so sorry for you.  I also hope the boys bounce back very soon!

That's so awful. Did they give you the wrong blood type in your transfusion??? Is it an Rh issue? Cherish them and love them and hang in there. More information tomorrow will at least be one less thing to sit around anticipating.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this.  Please try not to blame yourself.  You would have never purposely given your babies anything that would in any way harm them.  You've already done so much good for them.  T & P for your family!
