So for those of you that are still BF does doing the deed still hurt? It hurts almost just as bad as it did for the first few times we started doing it after 12 weeks! I had an excruciating painful recover from L's delivery, so I am not sure if it will just always hurt or if it is not normal? My husband thinks I need to talk to the Dr but I just feel awkward describing that much detail to my new Dr.!
Re: A question of the TMI type
I still get sore the next day, but it is not at all as the pain you describe during the act. It hurts a little at first but then it is gone. I had 3rd degree tears so I was in pain after delivery, and that is not the same pain I have now. I am also still as dry as the Sahara, but lube makes all the difference. It would not hurt to call your OB and speak with the nurse, and request a call back.
This.
What is super ironic about this whole situation that I am in-I used to work for a company that did pelvic floor rehab for post baby, painful sex, etc.! Just never thought I would be in that position. I am planning on calling my primary Dr. to refer me to a new OB. My insurance through the military makes me jump through hoops in order to see someone specialized! Hopefully they can help
.
Sex was painful for me, too (even lube burned), so despite REALLY not wanting to go in, I went. My OB said I had both a yeast infection and vaginal atrophy. True story.
She said the yeast would clear up with monistat (which it did) but the VA is caused by low estrogen. Since I'm BFing and on the mini-pill, she felt certain that I had low estrogen. My options: go off the mini-pill and use condoms; go off the mini-pill and onto a combo pill, and risk the drop in supply; get a prescription estrogen cream.
For me, the painful sex seems to have been caused more by the yeast infection, because it's pretty much back to normal. IDK about you, but (warning: major tmi) the external itching in the creases that I have seems to be more atrophy-related.
All of this to say, go to the doc. Mine was completely non-plussed by my problems.
It hurt at first (I think the first time was around 8w PP), but didn't take too many times before I was back to my regular self. We basically didn't get to have sex the entire time I was pregnant so that made it worse.
I also had 2nd degree tearing, and tore both on the outside and the inside. I thought it would be a lot longer of a road to being pain-free, so I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think it should still be painful at this point no matter how badly the aftermath of your delivery may have been. I would talk to your doc.
This is generally how I feel which is why I have put off going back to the Dr. for so long. I figured something wasn't quite right, but really DH is gone alot and when he is home we are both so tired we don't get around to it much anyway ha ha...sad but true.
