Anyone know about how many units of Follistim you take a day?  I know we are all different and it just depends on how you are responding...I'm just curious about how much you take a day.  I think I have like 2000 units in my fridge.  For my IUIs I was on 75-100ius a day and I got 4 eggs.

Also what is a "mature" follicle for IVF???  My follicles were always  15-17 mm (which I thought was kind of small but my RE said was good) for my IUIs...just curious if it's different for IVF...

Your protocol will be different for you depending on how you respond to drugs (seemingly well, if you're at risk for OHSS).

I personally was on 300uis daily for follistim but other women have been on as much at 900ui daily.

Most REs consider anything over 15mm to be highly likely to be mature. Your RE will trigger when a follicle reaches your clinic's preferred size. (Some do it earlier - say 18mm, some do it later, say 22mm - it all depends on what else is going on and how many follicles you have and what your specific diagnosis is.)

I used between 75 and 150 of gonal f in addition to Menopur for my cycle.  Three days before retrieval I had 17 follicles measuring 15-18 mm and they didn't check them again.  Retrieval day I got 19 eggs, all of which were mature.

It depends on your dx and previous response. 

I was on 200iu of Follistim and 75 of Menorpur and ended up with 7 follies (ER is in the AM so I don't know how many eggs yes).

I second Bzeety.  Your dose is dependent on two things -- your diagnosis and how well you respond to stims.  I am DOR and an amazingly poor responder.  For my EPP cycles, I was on 600iu Follistim.  

My office considered anything 16mm+ to be mature for ER.  Good luck!!

On my IVF that was converted to IUI I was taking 300 iu of gonal f so I was going through it pretty fast but I also have low AMH/DOR. I think the doctors may order a little more than they think you need so they can increase the dose if needed and you won't run out! GL!

I never took Follistim for either of my IUIs, just Menopur , but I've been on 300iu of Follistim for both completed IVF cycles....Only 150iu for my cancelled cycle which is why dosage was increased.

The follicle sizes that are considered likely to hold a mature egg will vary by office. My RE considers a 16mm follicle and good size and won't allow a trigger unless they're around that size. That being said...as long as you have a couple that are of that size, its possible for the smaller ones down to maybe quite possibly even the 12s to hold mature eggs. My last IVF cycle, I had btw 9-11 follicles (depending on my tech that day) ranging from  26mm to 11mm. I had 11 eggs and 7 were mature, so you just can never tell!!

I'm a horrid responder, currently on menopur 150 and follistim 450. I agree, my RE waits to trigger until the majority are above 15mm, but I have also had much smaller contain mature eggs. Once they had measured one at 10mm the day I triggered and it had a mature egg at retrieval...crazy

My RE starts the majority of people off at 225iu follistim and 75iu Menopur. Depending on history, it would go up or down from there, but that is where people who are not DOR and have never done injections start.

Basically, anything over 11mm at trigger has a chance of being mature. It is a very low chance at 11-13mm, a good chance at 14-15mm, and a high chance at 16+mm.

May I ask, what does "PAIR/SAIF always welcome" mean? I've seen it several times and always wondered.

For my fresh cycle I was on 350 of Follistim and ended up with 21 eggs retrieved.  For my mini-stim cycle for FET they did a much lower dose since the goal was to improve my lining and not retrieve any eggs, so I was on 100 and had about 8 mature follicles

It means "pregnant after infertility" and "Success after infertility" gals can answer and post their opinions. Some people are open to this, others aren't.

Many people have a specific "welcome" version in their siggy.
