Basically just a play kitchen and a bunch of accessories for it.

Oh also a magna doodle.  There was one at the doctor's office and she loved that thing.

Play kitchen, M&D play food, Little People Airplane, Duplo blocks, Mr. Potato Head (fun fact - when I was a kid all you bought were the accessories and you stuck them in an actual potato.  My mom told me this last weekend.), books.

My dad got Nikolai a balance bike.  It is the cutest thing!!

Yep, starting around 18 months.  There are some seriously awesome You Tube videos of littluns on them.

Table and chairs set and probably a few arts-and-crafts items for it

Christmas book/PJs (I get her a themed book for every holiday to start to build a little holiday-specific library)

No toys -- leaving that to the rest of the family who will get her way too much (only grandchild on both sides)

We were going to get her a play kitchen as her main gift, but just the other day, someone offered to give us theirs because their kids have outgrown it. So now, I've got some new ideas. I'll have to get her some play pots and pans and I've already thrown the word out there when people have asked for ideas that she will need some play food to go with it. I'd also like to get her a shopping cart.

We are getting our DS match box cars for Christmas.  He has a decent amount of clothes and he loves cars.  He might end up with some books and other toys.  We also got him a used big wheel to use outside in good weather and the basement in bad weather.

 We are planning on spending a maximum of about $25 on him since MIL loves to shop at thrift stores and second hand stores.  We figure that he is young enough that we can get away with second hand toys and clothes.
