we just flew with our 2 year old and brought our carseat. as pp said, it is safer and they are familiar with their seat and straps. our son did great the whole flight.
Well at 2 they need a seat, and it isn't really safe to have just a lapbelt. We got the harness at www.kidsflysafe.com when we flew with DS at 2 and 2.5.
However in general my answer to flying with toddlers is one word. Don't.?
Flying with our 2 year old was easy. He's so calm anyways so flying didn't bother him one bit. He sat in a borrowed car seat because I thought ours might be too big. Def. need a car seat though. Our 10 month old was the problem...
