Breastfeeding

Two Questions

Hi Ladies, TIA for any advice you have. First, my right breast produces less than my left and LO prefers to eat from the left. Is there a way to up my supply on the right, I always have LO eat there first but after about 10 minutes she is unlatching and pawing at me.

Second, I need to get a good pumping session at about 10 pm every night. I will only be able to pump at work twice during the day but will need to replace 3 feedings. I am hoping to do that after LO goes to bed. If I power pump for a couple of nights at that time will my body naturally make sure I have enough milk at that specific time or will it just improve my supply in general?

Re: Two Questions

  • I wouldn't worry too much about the first one. As long as your LO is getting enough and you offer both sides through the day, I'd let it go.

I am pretty sure that if you consistently pump at the same time each day your body will have more available at that time.

  • You could also pump to or from work to squeeze in an extra session or two. I pumped as I drove about 50 percent of the time with DS1 due to the nature of my job, and I would actually get the most at those sessions because I was relaxed and not thinking about pumping.
