What kind are there? What's the price difference? What's the difference between capabilities?
Like Nook vs iPad. Do they both do everything the same ::pretty much:: or is the nook just a book? Can you get apps on the nook? Use Internet?
You can get apps for the Kindle Fire, probably the Nook too. I have an iPad, we gave my mom a Kindle Fire last year, and I think they are equal, unless you plan to do some heavy computing on it, then I would stick with the iPad.
Oh and if you already have an iPhone, a lot of the apps for the iPhone will be able to sync to the iPad, so that might be a deciding factor.

We don't need it for anything other than entertainment... So I hesitate to spend the money at all and also debate if we do get one is the ipad really what we "need" for the price difference.
We have iPhones and would love the simplicity of an iPad as well... I know how to use it and as poster said, stuffs compatible.

Then get a mini. Not as expensive, but will have the simplicity ect. Last year DH and I got the Nook Tablet and the Kindle Fire. I can barely use the internet on it, it's freakishly slow. So I use it only for reading. DH's Kindle Fire is more tablet like, but it still essentially a reader with fancy apps and shiz. I really regret not just getting an iPad or an actual tablet (like the Asus tablet).

Is the slow Internet a device problem or a wireless problem? Sometimes we get hit with slowski speed, but its always the darn wireless... Or the computer needs to be cleaned up
