Potty Trained and still having yeast rashes

Ok, I was told once we were out of diapers the yeast diaper rashes would go away.  Well they still come back just as bad.  I have tried everything to stop this from happening.  4 different prescriptions...the only one that worked for us was a steroid cream.  I give yogurt and probiotics everyday.  Her panties stay dry.  Why is she still having yeast rashes?  I can get rid of them for 2-3 weeks then they come back again.

Re: Potty Trained and still having yeast rashes

  • If the only thing that really works is steroid cream it isn't yeast. Typically yeast will get worse with straight steroids (unless it is really inflamed and it is in combo with a yeast medication).

Is she atopic at all (as in does she have sensitive skin and breaks out/history of eczema)? Maybe she is allergic/sensitive to either the laundry soap you are using or the fabric in the underwear.

Are you wiping every time she pees? Initially I really didn't with DD (unless she pooped) but realized quickly that her skin would get really irritated if I didn't wipe (I guess it makes sense I just didn't really think about it).

    Hope it resolves quickly!
