Host Gift

I found a place to go for thanksgiving! One of my mommy group friends invited us over and I lover her and her family so I'm really excited. There is going to be about 21 people there including 3 of the mommy group girls and their kids and husbands, plus a bunch of her family members.

I want to bring a gift for our host, and I know that she is not a big drinker or I'd bring wine - does anyone have any recommendations? I can't spend more than $20 or so...

Re: Host Gift

  • How about some pretty fall hand towels for the kitchen or bathroom, and a nice holiday pump soap to go with it?  It's the kind of thing I never buy for myself, so I always love it when someone gifts it to me.

  • Maybe a cheese tray and some crackers?

  • How about baking her some holiday cookies?
  • I think some kind of snacky or dessert thing that can "keep" so they don't have to eat it right away but have it to munch on after all the thanksgiving stuff is gone would be good - like a pepperidge farms gift box, or some nice candies or cookies. I don't really like giving anything decor related unless I know the person, their house, and their taste really well. The other thought is a gift card to go to dinner or a movie or a cute ice cream place or something, but that might take you over $20.

  • fresh flowers, maybe a dessert (or just ask if she wants you to bring something in particular). Maybe a nice personalized ornament (though I don't know if there's enough time for that).
  • I like to give olive oil too!  We have local pressed olive oil, a bottle can run about $20 so that is usually good as is.  Otherwise you could add balsamic vinegar if you wanted too.  Otherwise a plant is nice.  I've seen round planters with three herbs in them (for indoors) at Home Depot.
