I hate christmas photo cards that are of people's cats/dogs dressed up. A sweater is fine - but I don't need to see it in a christmas card. Santa hat/beard/reindeer antlers - no thanks.
Now if you have said pet in photo with the FAMILY - ok. If said pet is the only one in the picture - um, no.
My own mother is guilty of this - and I know I'm getting one this year featuring my new "little brother"...my real brothers can't be bothered to be in the pic.
I don't have any problem with the onesies/shirts that say Grandma/Grandpa's (insert cute sayinghere). They make my parents happy and it's just a shirt. I like those better than "Diva in Training."
I don't find the "you dun no my LYFE" line funny. At all. It was lame to begin with, and 5000 threads later I just want to gouge my eyeballs out when I read it. People, let's find a new way to snark on someone, please!!
I HATE black Friday shopping. I've gone out a few times because someone asked me and I felt obligated, but I hated every minute of it. I completely avoid shopping malls anytime between now and the beginning of the year. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Christmas shopping, but if I don't get it done by Thanksgiving then I order everything online!

I think that if people have issues with their MILs doing something they
don't like they should be the one to talk with their MIL, not have their
husband do it. We are grown women for goodness sake and we should act
like it.
I think it depends. In our case, my MIL is very sensitive and any issue I bring to her, no matter how nicely I put it, is going to be received as "my DIL hates my guts". If my husband can do it and spare her feelings (and us a crying incident), then that's what we're going to do. It's not because I'm hiding behind him, it's because I want her to actually focus on what we're trying to tell her. If you have the type of relationship with your MIL where you can do this, I think that's great, but I don't know that it's necessarily typical.

I also think all the cutesy pinterest Father's Day gifts are silly. Those are more for the mom than the dad and it's just like being given season tickets to your DH favorite sports team for your birthday or Mother's Day. Sure, the pics are cute but I think we all know that it's not the top gift idea. Dad's don't think "OMG I have to have a picture of my kids holding letters up that spell out dad!" He's thinking I want a new grill with my favorite, rare beer hiding inside. Besides, DHs already knows how to spell and would prefer 18 holes with their friends, some time at the shooting range, or sexy time with their wives.
I always kind of figured that those pictures were like cards that are just in addition to the actual present. Honestly, SO would prefer something cute from Ramona over any of the things, except for sexy time. Not the overly cutesy ones but just something nice. But I definitely agree that DHs should get something they actually want, because it's their day.

DH actually would like a framed photo of her holding the letters for his office. He has many photos on his desk/on his cubicle wall. I am only in one of them
But he also wouldn't mind if I threw in a new putter with the photo...
Unfortunately - since our 1st anniversary and a friends wedding was around his 1st fathers day - he got a card with Hayley's handprints and that was it...All I got was a card though too. We were real cheap this year.

My MIL can be quite the pain in the @ss and there are some significant cultural differences. If she says or does something especially rude it's better for H to deal with her because she'll listen to him much more then she will to me and we have a much better overall relationship if he deals with any issues. I do disagree with her plenty when she says dumb stuff, but any more serious issues H handles it. Honestly, I would want him to do the same with my family. If my family says something dumb, call them on it then and there, but if it's a more serious complaint/concern I would rather that he let me handle it because it's my family and I know best how to communicate with them to get the best results.

I won't hold back either. Thank goodness my DH isn't that shallow.
We don't do a lot for gifts for one another. Just small things. For Mother's Day for example he gave me a homemade "coupon book" with things like "breakfast in bed," "dinner to restaurant of your choosing," etc. I loved it. That's the kind of things we get for each other, sometimes smaller store-bought items too. We don't have a lot of money, and we don't have to spend a lot in order to do something meaningful as a gift for the other person.
eta- He doesn't golf, doesn't care about sports, and we already have a grill, soooo... basically he just doesn't care about bigger things for the most part. My parents and I went in to get him a big power tool set 2 Christmases ago. That he liked and we knew he wanted it, but it was a rare occasion that he was wanting a big-ticket item.
Every person and every situation is different so obviously a broad generalization won't work for everyone. Mostly I'm talking about smaller things - names, furniture choices, giving used baby stuff.
That I agree with. I think it would be physically impossible for me to not comment on at least some of the stuff that comes out of MIL's mouth

Just because your old (I'm talking 80's) does not mean your smarter than me. Yeah - you have been around a looooong time. But the fact that I had to beg you to leave your apartment when our building was on fire because you "didn't want to be bothered to find your cats if it was a false alarm" makes me question your intelligence. Find your cats anyway and get the he!l out! (This all happened Sunday night. Our family - and apartment - is just fine.)

Everyone I know gave their DH this kind of stuff FOR the Father's Day gift. If it was in addition to or acting as a card I think it's awesome. I was just thinking about it because the holidays are coming up and I couldn't help but wonder what picture gift is going to be the hot new "it" gift this year.
I don't know, that doesn't seem that bad to me. I always thought of Father's Day as being about being a father, so I get him something related to DD. And that's all I expect at Mother's Day.
I don't think it's THAT big a deal to miss the first time LO does something like roll over. Sure, I'd like to see it the first time it happens, but he is going to do it again and it will still be exciting for me to see it then. I am sure I would feel differently if I had to spend an excessive amount of time away from LO.

At least you don't fake the funk and act like you're all justified. I don't think you're really a troll, either.
Can someone define what a "troll" even IS?... what kind of crazy internet language is this?? We are not in a Sci-Fi novel.
"One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being
self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a
forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or
her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem
attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no
substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments,
which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue."
Ever notice how you're only around to create or augment drama? That makes you a troll.

That's funny. So anyone who has a strong opinion or debates an issue can be defined as a "troll" more or less if no one or very few other individuals agree with them. Good to know.

Toddler food is silly. Once they can eat solids (not pur?es) they don't need specially made foods. It's just starting them off on a life long preference of processed, mostly unhealthy food products, instead of actual food. They can practice self-feeding on cooked chick peas, lentils, blueberries, carrots, etc., they don't need frankenfood.
