swollen feet... What the heck?!

I think my body is confused. It's not time for third trimester symptoms yet. But last night, I looked down at my feet and they were SO swollen. I mean they were almost cankles, they were so puffy! DH thinks it was from all the walking we did on Mon and Tues at the museums in Chicago, but I'm not completely convinced.

Has anyone else heard of, had, or currently have swollen feet during earlier pregnancy? I wonder what it could be from?

  • Maybe you're retaining too much sodium? I'd drink more water. I don't think it's uncommon.

  • I always gain 5 to 10 pounds at the beginning of a pregnancy in water weight and I do notice some puffiness early on. This happens before my first appointment. For me, it doesn't really resolve until after delivery. I was a little puffy with DS3 until about halfway through my pregnancy. Then my family took a trip to Disney World. Once I got on the plane my legs, ankles, and feet ballooned right up and stayed that way for the rest of the pregnancy. Yikes! I was more vigilant about salt intake after that, but it didn't seem to help.

  • Drink lots of water and rest those piggies!!! I had swelling at 6w last pregnancy because I was a day care teacher and on my feet 9-10hrs a day.
