I just found out my FSH level is 11. I have a blood test tomorrow to check my AMH levels. Anyone with advice/experience with high FSH levels? I'm 27 yo.
I am 29 and had the same FSH during a routine blood test after TTC for a year. Have you been to an RE? If not, that needs to be your next stop. There are options, but you need to be aggressive! We have age on our side!
TTC since: July 2011
Dx: DIminished Ovarian Reserve
AMH: 0.4
Me: 30 DH: 33
Medicated IUI Cycle #1 = BFN 9/3/12
Laparascopy/Hysteroscopy 9/13/12
Medicated IUI Cycle #2 = BFN 11/2/12
IVF Cancelled 11/7/12 due to low AFC
IVF Cycle 12/2: ended 12/31 Chemical Pregnancy
My RE didn't originally want to test FSH because it's not as sensitive a test as AMH. Glad you're getting your AMH tested. Mine came back undetectable (AMH<.16). Because it was so low, she tested my FSH, which was 7 but she determined it unreadable because my estradial was 150 and anything above 60 invalidates the test (FSH is in a negative feedback loop with estradial so when one's up, the other is down). So all things said and done, 11 isn't great but it isn't bad either. You're in the range (11-19) where you can benefit from IF treatment. Above 20 and you're not a candidate for treatments. Not meaning to sound like a know it all, because that's hardly the case. I'm just quoting my RE.
35yo, DH 40, 5 yrs TTTC. Normal HSG and SA. Challenge is low ovarian reserve (AMH=.16) due to moderate endo. Two laps, 2 IUIs with injectables, no baby. Trying first IVF cycle 4/13. Actively seeking egg donor.
You had the FSH drawn on CD3 correct? If not that it needs to be redrawn and it's not accurate.

There are many different opinions on this. My doctor for example chose not to do AMH. She studied under the doc who discovered the test and in his own words he said if he would have known now how that test would be used that he never would have come forward with the information. She asked if based on my AMH results, was I ready to give up and move to donor eggs/adoption.....I said no! I at least want to try!! She agreed and said then we shouldn't even run that test. We already know I have a low AFC and elevated FSH, why even put that negative number out there when we both believe that I am young, and capable of sill becoming pregnant.
Do you have any idea what your Antral Follicle Count normally is? I think that is more of an indicator of your chance of success with IVF.

Good luck with your AMH test. I'm 27 as well and while my FSH was "normal" at 6.1, we'll never really know because my re didn't test my e2 with it. Smart. But, my AMH is 0.69 and, after having a decent AFC, I'm only growing 7 follies. He dx me as DOR this week.
I'm not sure on my AFC. I just had my AMH test today and should receive results next week. What are you currently doing to get pregnant? Are you on other types of fertility treatment?
