I know Elise is the popular spelling but it will be a fairly unusual name in my geographic location (no matter the spelling), so I am worried people will not know how to pronounce "Elise". Elyse strikes as having only one sensible pronunciation. So, do I risk having people misspell it or risk having them mispronounce it?

Re: Elyse v. Elise
I think Elise is the prettier spelling, I'm not a big fan of the "y". As it stands though, I think the pronounciation is clear.
Not to add to the confusion, but I have a friend who spells it Elese.
This.
All of this. Go with Elise.
