So I am home from our 9 month appt. I had asked about offering a little bit of WCM instead of water at meals. My doctor said I can finish our last can of formula and start giving this to him instead. I'm hesitant. This doesn't seem right does it?

Re: WCM - Weird Doc said we can switch to this now?
I don't know. It probably wouldn't actually physically hurt him. But the nutrition that formula provides is just so superior in terms of vitamins/minerals/proteins/etc, that I probably wouldn't feel comfortable completely switching right now. Now, a little WCM instead of water at meals--wouldn't phase me a bit. But for the straight bottles, I would stick to formula for a few more months.
But that is just based on my understanding of the nutritional composition of formula--not on any risks of harm from WCM.

My bff and I go to the same pedi (who we love and is very well respected in our area). She was dealing with major breast milk supply and growth issues with her son at around 8 months, and he told her to supplement with formula but that she could start introducing WCM after 9 months. He was completely off formula and on WCM by 10 months. And his growth has still improved month by month.
