34 weeks... reconsidering girl's name (*long-ish*)

I could use some help! DH and I are Team Green.  We have completely settled on a boy's name.  My problem is the girl's name.  My husband proposed a mashup of our two first names, and technically, it works, as it's a common name in English: Ashley.  We would spell it slightly differently to better match the Arabic transliteration of the name.

However, I'm wavering.  I grew up with a ton of girls named Ashley, and I'm not overly fond of all of them.  For my husband, the name is unique and interesting because the name is unheard of in Arabic.  So we're sorta-kinda going back to the drawing board for a girl's name because of my ambivalence.  :-S

Care to suggest some names???

 - I like slightly unique names; I also like ethnic names.

 - I especially like names that begin with the letters A, C, J, K, and L, but am open to other names.

 - We're looking for a shorter FN, as our LN has 5 syllables--LN also starts with A.

 - Middle name is Ann (family name).

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Ash.li (obviously no period!)  I also like the significance, but am struggling with the name's popularity and the "adult" factor of the name.  To me, (and no offense to any Ashleys!), the name is very "young" sounding.

I've liked several of the suggestions so far, ladies!  A few were on my "alternate" list already!  Thanks for your help with this!

  • I like that Ashli is a significant name for you and DH.  I think I would go with it.  It is a pretty name and I actually know 3 adult Ashleys and the name works on all 3 of them even though they are all completely different personality wise.

I usually do not like alternate spellings but I really like this one btw.

  • I think Ashli is cute - there's a 7 month old girl in our baby group named Ashley, and I thought it was unique for her age. That said, Im not a huge fan of how the name ages.

  • Not a fan of the spelling Ash.li. I also feel like it's a name from the 80's & 90's.

I put your names in Nymbler, and came up with some suggestions. What about Eden, Delilah, Sadie, Alice, Eliza, Keira, Dahlia, Elena, Danica, Bianca, Vivian,  Iris, Clara, Mayra, Lucia, or Daphne?
