2 month vaccinations today UPDATE

I am a nervous wreck. We're not even at the Pediatricians office yet and I feel guilty. I just hope I can keep it together and not break down crying in the doctors office. I hate when he cries and is in pain. It just breaks my heart and I hope that the vaccines just make him sleepy and that we avoid a fever or any nasty side effects. Just incase I have the infant tylenol ready to go. Any other advice or recommendations?

Update- B was such a good boy today. He screamed with the injections and immediately after the nurse was done I picked him up and held him really close and then I fed him which calmed him down. He slept for about an hour and woke up, ate, and is now back to sleep. Hopefully the worst is some sleepiness and he doesn't get a fever from this. On the bright side he is a very healthy little boy. He's in the 95% for height measuring 2ft tall and the 75% for weight at 12lbs 10oz!

A couple of things.

1. The shots were not bad at all for DD. I was the exact same way, a nervous wreck. I cried the whole way to the doctor's office. She got them, screamed for literally 20 seconds, BF and stopped. She cried really hard about 3 hours later, we gave her a smidge of tylenol and she was FINE!

2. You would feel more guilty if DS got sick and you could have prevented. I know you know this, but just keep reminding yourself of it. As my pediatrician cousin said, "you know what is painful? polio."

3. Massage those little legs for a while right after the shot

4. BF or bottle him right after the shots

GL! I hope they are as easy on him as they were on DD.

I told myself that a moment of the shots hurting was 1000x better than him getting one of the things the shots were for.

FWIW, though D cried during the shots...once a boob was in his mouth he settled down really quick. He had no reaction to the 2 month shots (be on the look out for low grade fever and/or general crabbiness).

I agree w/ pp's - nurse right away if you can! We did skin to skin when we got home, just curled up on the couch and snuggled with a blanket. It was consoling for both of us. Shots are tough but its a brief pain for what its worth. Hang in there!

DDs 2 month shots were harder on me I think! Lol she cried but then I consoled her and fed her and she was fine. Never got a fever luckily. The only thing I noticed was she ate a little less a day like 2 oz or so. Hope he is ok with his shots too!
